On the night of January 12th, Huynh Trung Hieu (Titan), former coach of the Arena of Valor team, unexpectedly shared information about his sexual orientation on his personal account. However, he also mentioned Tan Khoa, a player from the club he once coached. The post quickly went viral, receiving many mixed reactions.
On the morning of January 12th, SGP officially issued a statement regarding the incident. The team acknowledged the event and refuted the unrelated rumors that negatively impacted the players.
"Recently, Saigon Phantom received information regarding the incident where the team's former coach publicly posted an article containing content that directly affected Saigon Phantom and its players. Regarding the shared content, it is a personal, emotional, and speculative piece of writing with no factual basis, misleading public opinion, negatively impacting the community and fans, and seriously infringing upon the honor, dignity, privacy, and morale of the players," the team stated.
SGP also refuted the information that the player reciprocated the former coach's feelings. At the same time, the eSports club affirmed that it did not engage in any abusive behavior towards Tan Khoa during the time Titan was in charge.
The team stated that the named player had been repeatedly harassed, severely impacting their mental well-being, and had proactively warned others to stop the behavior. However, the behavior continued until it spiraled out of control, forcing the player to report it directly to management.
Immediately after receiving the information, the Management Board verified, assessed, and took timely action to ensure the rights, morale, and working environment of all parties involved. This is also the reason why Titan will leave SGP from September 2025.
"The Management Board is currently trying to contact the former coach to remove all posts, content, and statements related to the Saigon Phantom team and its players; and to cease all posting, disseminating, commenting on, or spreading information in any form that could further affect the reputation, image, honor, and legitimate rights of the Company and its players."
Any uncooperative behavior or continued violations will be documented, evidence will be collected, and legal action will be taken in accordance with Vietnamese law to best protect the rights, image, and morale of the team's players," the eSports team announced.
Meanwhile, Coach Titan has not yet responded to the post from the evening of January 11th.
