The images show that the Camp Nou stadium construction site is still in disarray.

After winning the La Liga title in June 2023, Barcelona embarked on a project to upgrade the Nou Camp, aiming to increase its capacity to 105,000 seats. The initial plan was for the team to return to their home ground on the club's 125th anniversary (November 29, 2024).

However, construction has been repeatedly delayed. According to previous reports, the return date could be pushed back to October, meaning Barcelona would be unable to host Real Madrid at home in El Clasico on May 11th.

An impressive timelapse video captures the construction site bustling day and night, showing that the 67-year-old stadium is still far from complete. While seating is beginning to be installed inside, the exterior remains just an unfinished framework with cranes constantly in operation.

The interior of Camp Nou is currently undergoing renovation.

According to Mundo Deportivo , Barcelona has signed an agreement to continue using the Olympic Lluis Companys stadium (capacity 54,367 seats) until the final match of the season against Villarreal. This helps the club solve its stadium shortage for the final rounds of the season.

The Daily Mail revealed that the new turf for the Nou Camp will be laid in April, while the roof – expected to be the largest in Europe – still has no completion date.

The prolonged delays have put Barcelona under significant financial pressure, even though the club expects the stadium renovations to generate hundreds of millions of pounds in the future. Revenue from the Olympic Stadium is currently considerably lower than the commercial potential that the renovated Nou Camp could offer.

Once completed, Camp Nou will become Europe's largest sports facility, powered by green energy with 18,000 square meters of solar panels, generating its own electricity and producing zero CO2 emissions.
