'Sane has thrown his own career away'

Leroy Sane's decision to leave Bayern Munich and join Galatasaray this summer is becoming the focus of controversy.

Leroy Sane is facing criticism for moving to Türkiye to play football.

Recently, former Tottenham midfielder Rafael van der Vaart bluntly stated that the German star "ruined his own career."

Sane, 29, was once hailed as one of Europe's top wingers. After shining at Man City with 39 goals and 44 assists in 135 games and 8 major titles, he continued to make his mark at Bayern Munich. However, his refusal to renew his contract and his choice to join Galatasaray has led many to question his ambitions.

Coach Julian Nagelsmann recently dropped Sane from the German squad for the September training camp, emphasizing: "He has to perform significantly better because he's playing in a less competitive league."

Van der Vaart, now a pundit in the Netherlands, was even more scathing: “Sane’s development is a shame. He’s thrown his career away.”

In his first four games with Galatasaray, Sane scored one goal and provided one assist, but was criticized for wasting opportunities. Despite this, he remained determined: “I like playing two games a week to get into the rhythm quickly. After the international break, the real season begins and fans will soon see the best version of me.”

Despite the doubts, Sane still has a chance to prove himself when the Champions League kicks off. Galatasaray will face big teams like Man City, Liverpool, Atletico Madrid, and Eintracht Frankfurt – matches that are seen as a true test of his controversial selection.
