The exhibition recreates the journey of more than a century of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism and honors the contributions of journalists through three themes: Vietnamese revolutionary journalism - historical milestones; Steel pen, loyal heart; and Continuing the flow. Among these, the theme "Steel pen, loyal heart" is the highlight, with extensive information recounting the stories of newspapers and publications compiled, published, and circulated from behind prison bars and amidst the smoke and fire of the battlefield.
Visiting the exhibition, the public has the opportunity to remember the journalists who bravely sacrificed their lives while working on the battlefield during the two wars of resistance against French colonialism and American imperialism. The examples of journalists such as Tran Kim Xuyen, Bui Dinh Tuy, Pham Thi Ngoc Hue, Duong Thi Xuan Quy... contribute to portraying the courage, sense of responsibility, and selfless dedication of revolutionary journalists.

Le Thi Trung Anh, 22 years old, a student at the University of Foreign Languages (Vietnam National University , Hanoi ), expressed her emotion upon reading information about the People's Army Newspaper's forward editorial office at the Dien Bien Phu Front in 1954, presented in the exhibition space "Charging into the Trenches". During the resistance war against the French, to reflect the latest developments of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign and the activities in combat and daily life of our army and people, the People's Army Newspaper established a forward editorial office, located on Ngua Hi Hill, Muong Phang commune, Dien Bien province. With only 5 soldier-journalists working from December 28, 1953 to May 16, 1954, 33 issues of the People's Army Newspaper at the Dien Bien Phu Front were published, imbued with the spirit of the war and shining brightly with the heroic achievements of our army and people. Le Thi Trung Anh shared: “The stories of journalism on the Dien Bien Phu battlefield truly impressed me. I admire the enthusiasm and courage of the journalists, and I am grateful for their contributions to independence and peace. Journalism is hard work, but it is glorious. Revolutionary journalists are dedicated to their profession, wholeheartedly committed to truth, justice, and the common good of the community.”
The exhibition is designed in a modern and aesthetically pleasing style with three main colors: white, red, and blue—the characteristic colors in the logo of the Vietnam Journalists Association —standing out against the warm yellow walls of the Hoa Lo Prison historical site. The rich and vibrant collection of images and documents captivates the attention of anyone visiting the site. Throughout the exhibition, the image of a pen, both soft and sharp, evokes the qualities of revolutionary journalists that have been cultivated, nurtured, and developed over more than a century. A particularly impressive feature of the exhibition is the provision of bilingual English-Vietnamese explanatory texts and an audio narration via QR code for the benefit of locals and tourists.
Nguyen Ke Tung, 20 years old, a student at the Academy of Journalism and Communication, said: “Besides the knowledge I learned in school, visiting this exhibition today has given me a deeper understanding of journalism and the dedication of previous generations of journalists. I am proud and aspire to continue the traditional values of Vietnam's revolutionary journalism, pioneering, innovating, and serving the Fatherland and the people.”
