The Folk Song and Music Festival of the Three Regions is an annual professional activity aimed at introducing, promoting, preserving, and developing the traditional artistic values of folk songs and traditional musical instruments from various regions, linked to life and production; building a joyful, healthy, and happy cultural life; and overcoming the disparity in cultural development and enjoyment between different regions of the country. It contributes to fostering national pride, the awareness of preserving and transmitting intangible cultural values, and ensuring that folk songs and traditional musical instruments continue to resonate in contemporary life.

The festival aims to promote the role of the people as both creators and beneficiaries of culture; to respect and protect the diverse expressions of culture, of the people, ethnic groups, and regions; to develop a broad and substantive cultural movement; and to enhance the people's enjoyment of culture. It creates a space for exchange, convergence, and dissemination of the cultural essence of the three regions of North, Central, and South Vietnam; thereby strengthening community cohesion and consolidating national unity. It also aims to discover, nurture, and honor talented grassroots artists, artisans, and amateur artists; contributing to the inheritance and development of grassroots cultural creative forces.
Furthermore, it contributes to strengthening the connection between cultural preservation and tourism development, promoting the image of Vietnam and its people as a country rich in identity, friendly, and integrated. It gradually transforms folk art into a new source of creative inspiration, aligning with modern cultural development trends while still preserving traditional values.
The Folk Music and Singing Festival of the Three Regions is scheduled to take place from July 4-8, 2026 in Hue City, bringing together amateur art troupes from cultural centers of provinces and cities nationwide.
Each participating unit will create an artistic program consisting of a minimum of 5 performances, lasting no more than 35 minutes. The number of participants will be appropriate to the program structure. The Organizing Committee will select suitable programs and performances to be presented at the opening and closing ceremonies of the Festival.
In terms of content, the performances focused on praising the glorious Communist Party of Vietnam , the beloved President Ho Chi Minh; love for the homeland and country, national pride and the glorious historical traditions of the Vietnamese people; praising family affection, hometown loyalty, the beautiful moral values of the nation; and the tradition of solidarity and close ties among the Vietnamese ethnic communities.
The Organizing Committee encourages performances of typical folk songs and music from the three regions of North, Central, and South Vietnam, as well as other traditional folk performance forms; while also encouraging creativity and innovation while preserving the core values of folk art. This contributes to the preservation and promotion of traditional cultural values and strengthens exchange and solidarity among localities.
The performances fall into two main categories: traditional folk songs and modern folk songs. For instrumental music, participating groups can choose solo, duet, trio, or ensemble performances with traditional instruments. For vocal performances, solo, duet, trio, and group singing are encouraged; performances may utilize pre-recorded backing music and dance accompaniment.
The Organizing Committee requests that performances that have won Gold Medals, First Prizes, or A Prizes at regional and national competitions, festivals, and performances organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism do not participate in this year's Festival.
At the end of the festival, the Organizing Committee will present commemorative trophies to the participating units; and also award Gold and Silver medals to outstanding performances and Certificates of Merit to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements .
