The Cam Lo - La Son expressway is about to be upgraded.

TPO - The Ho Chi Minh Highway Project Management Board is urgently completing the necessary legal procedures and will begin construction of the Cam Lo - La Son expressway expansion project in August.

The Ho Chi Minh Highway Project Management Board stated that it has submitted a report to the Ministry of Construction , requesting the early completion of the relevant appraisal and approval steps so that the project to expand the Cam Lo - La Son expressway can be submitted to the Government for approval to commence construction as soon as possible.

According to the proposal, the Cam Lo - La Son Expressway expansion project will be implemented according to the procedures for emergency projects, aiming to shorten administrative processing time and accelerate progress.

Previously, the Government approved the investment plan for the project, aiming to upgrade the existing expressway from 2 lanes to 4 lanes. The project has a total investment of over 6,400 billion VND, with a length of 98.35 km, closely following the route of the currently operating Cam Lo - La Son expressway.

Specifically, the project's starting point is at Km0+000 (in Cam Hieu commune, Cam Lo district, Quang Tri province), connecting with the final section of the Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway project. The end point is at Km102+200 (in Loc Bon commune, Phu Loc district, Hue city), connecting with the starting point of the La Son - Hoa Lien expressway project.

The investment scope includes expanding the roadbed, road surface, and auxiliary works along the route, ensuring the synchronization of technical infrastructure and operational capacity according to the 4-lane standard.

Currently, the Ministry of Construction, in coordination with relevant agencies, is urgently finalizing the investment preparation procedures for submission to the Government for approval.

According to the Ho Chi Minh Highway Project Management Board, all legal documents are expected to be completed by the end of August, and the project will officially commence. The goal is to complete the entire project by the end of 2026.

The project has a major advantage in that there are almost no obstacles in land clearance. Most of the necessary conditions have been fully prepared, ready for immediate implementation after receiving the official decision from the competent authority.
