On the occasion of Workers’ Month this year, the Binh Thanh District Labor Federation (HCMC) organized the program “Steadfastly Going to School with You”. The program presented 190 gifts (each worth 1.3 million VND) to families of union members and workers who are raising young children. This is a very meaningful activity, helping workers overcome difficult times in life. Along with the gift giving, the Binh Thanh District Labor Union also presented 3 electric cars and 65 bicycles to children of union members and workers in especially difficult circumstances.
In the common joy of hundreds of workers' families, Ms. Huynh Thi Thu, an employee of Long Dinh Stationery Company Limited (Binh Thanh District), was happy when her son was given an electric bicycle to go to school. Ms. Thu said that her family faced many difficulties when her husband's job was unstable, she had cancer, was living in a rented house, her children were of school age, and she and her husband were taking care of their parents who were over 90 years old. "When the union surveyed the family's circumstances to give the means for my child to go to school, I was very happy. Now that I have been given an electric bicycle, my child can conveniently travel from home to school, and my husband and I have less worries about taking him to and from school," Ms. Thu said.
For nearly half a month, after work, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy, Freetrend Company Limited (Linh Trung I Export Processing Zone, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City) does not have to rush to spontaneous markets to buy household items. Since the Union Welfare Point organized by the Trade Union of Export Processing and Industrial Zones (EPZs) of Ho Chi Minh City was located at the JOY Citypoint building - Linh Trung I EPZ, thousands of workers have a place to shop for quality goods.
The welfare point is designed as a mini supermarket with thousands of essential goods to serve the daily consumption needs of workers. Ms. Thuy shared that the sales location is very convenient, the price of each item is publicly listed on the counters and is sold at a preferential price, 3%-30% lower than the market price.
According to Mr. Lam Ngoc Man, Vice Chairman of the Trade Union of the Industrial Parks of Ho Chi Minh City, recently, the Trade Union of the Industrial Parks of Ho Chi Minh City has signed welfare agreements with enterprises to bring products to workers at reasonable prices. This is considered one of the modern shopping channels, committed to quality, safety, and price stability exclusively for union members and workers.

In particular, workers can choose 2 of the many savory dishes on the menu. This is a practical activity to thank workers for their commitment to the company.

This year, Workers' Month also created a highlight with important dialogue forums between workers and leaders of the Party, Government , and local leaders. From the forums, many proposals and recommendations from workers were accepted.
According to Mr. Vo Khac Thai, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation, Workers' Month, associated with the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday, is an opportunity for the city's trade unions at all levels to concretize and skillfully apply Uncle Ho's thoughts in each activity of representing, protecting and caring for union members and workers. Thereby, making studying and following Uncle Ho truly a regular task at all levels of trade unions, for each union member and worker.
