Standing shoulder to shoulder with women in border areas.

Launched in 2018, the "Accompanying Women in Border Areas" program not only supports women in border regions in overcoming difficulties and improving their quality of life, but also contributes to building an increasingly strong all-people border defense posture.

Ms. Doan Thi Hong (70 years old, residing in Hamlet 2, Ea Bung Commune, Ea Sup District) is a single woman with particularly difficult circumstances. Having no land for farming, Ms. Hong has to collect scrap materials to make ends meet. Recognizing her situation, the Provincial Border Guard Command provided her with 50 million VND to build a house. In addition to the financial support, she also received labor assistance from other women in the branch association, neighbors, and relatives, enabling the house to be completed quickly.

"After living almost my entire life, I finally have a sturdy house to live in. Living in this warm new home, I feel even more deeply the love that everyone has for me...", Mrs. Hong said emotionally.

Women in difficult circumstances in Ia R'vê commune (Ea Súp district) received breeding cows from the "Accompanying Women in Border Areas" program.

As a border commune still facing many difficulties, the Women's Union of Krong Na commune (Buon Don district) has accompanied border women through practical actions such as improving knowledge, guiding skills for women, promoting the proactive and positive role of women in building happy families, new rural areas, and many other social welfare activities.

"A stable family economy and a secure life are important foundations to prevent women and the people from being lured by malicious individuals into violating border regulations," said the Chairwoman of the Provincial Women's Union .

Nguyen Thi Thu Hang, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Krong Na commune, shared: "During the implementation of the program, grassroots union officials always visited each family of female members to propagate about practicing a civilized lifestyle and eliminating outdated customs; encouraged poor and near-poor households to proactively participate in implementing economic development models; and mobilized families to participate in regular environmental sanitation activities initiated by the women's union."

With the support of all levels and sectors, along with the efforts of its members, over the past five years, the Women's Union of Krong Na commune has coordinated the provision of 28 livelihood models for women with a total value of 264 million VND; built 15 houses worth nearly 600 million VND; and maintained 10 groups, models, and clubs that regularly operate to encourage women to improve their knowledge and health. This has contributed to reducing the number of poor households in the commune from 858 households (in 2020) to 572 households (by the end of 2024).

Following the directives of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union, the Provincial Women's Union has continued to sign a cooperation plan with the Provincial Border Guard Command to implement the "Accompanying Women in Border Areas" program for the period 2021-2025.

The Provincial Women's Union has directed its affiliated units to establish four support clusters in four border communes (Krong Na commune - Buon Don district; Ia Rve, Ia Lop, and Ea Bung communes - Ea Sup district), assigning Standing Committee members to accompany and support the clusters in implementing the program's targets and tasks; annually mobilizing social resources to support social welfare, livelihood support, and improve knowledge and skills... contributing to helping local Party committees and authorities address the essential needs of poor women and those in particularly difficult circumstances in border communes.

The Women's Association of the Provincial Border Guard and the Sê Rê Pốk Border Guard Station, along with sponsoring units, presented gifts to disadvantaged women's families in the border area.

Over the five years of implementing the program, the Provincial Women's Union, together with the Provincial Border Guard Command and supporting units, has carried out many meaningful activities and programs such as: "Spring at the Border Guard: Warming the Hearts of the People", "Giving Love to the Border", "Warm Sunshine on the Border", "Tet of Love: Deepening the Border", "Border Market"...

Through these efforts, they constructed 22 sanitation facilities, 1 clean water project, and 1 "Borderland Water Well" project; built a playground, donated 2 computer sets, 234 scholarships, and many gifts for students at various schools; distributed over 8,000 gifts to members and poor women; provided free medical examinations and medicine to over 500 people; donated 64 livelihood models, and supported 82 women in accessing loans for economic development… with a total value of approximately 4.5 billion VND.

According to the Chairwoman of the Provincial Women's Union, To Thi Tam, a stable family economy and a secure life are important foundations to prevent women and the people from being lured by malicious individuals into violating border regulations.
