(CT) - The Department of Domestic Market Management and Development (Ministry of Industry and Trade) has just issued Official Letter No. 141/TTTN-NV dated March 24, 2025, to the Departments of Industry and Trade of provinces and cities regarding strengthening the fight against smuggling and trade fraud related to granulated sugar.

The Department of Domestic Market Management and Development requests the Departments of Industry and Trade of provinces and centrally-administered cities to direct the Market Management Sub-departments to strictly implement the plans and directives of the Government, the National Steering Committee 389, the Ministry of Industry and Trade , and the People's Committees of provinces and centrally-administered cities in inspecting and controlling the market, preventing the illegal trading, transportation, and storage of smuggled sugar of unknown origin, clearly defining this as a regular and continuous task.

Furthermore, it is necessary to strengthen coordination with relevant agencies (Border Guard, Customs, Police, Tax) to inspect facilities that repackage and bottle granulated sugar, rock sugar production facilities, and facilities that purchase and auction granulated sugar to prevent the misuse of documents to legitimize smuggled granulated sugar. In addition, it is necessary to innovate the dissemination of legal information through various forms to raise public awareness of the harmful effects of smuggling and trade fraud, to educate the public not to abet smugglers, to participate in reporting crimes, and to cooperate with functional forces in this field.

The Department of Domestic Market Management and Development requests that the Departments of Industry and Trade of provinces and centrally-administered cities direct their Market Management Sub-departments to seriously implement the directives and report the results to the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development.
