The voter turnout reached 99.38%.

On the evening of March 15th, the Office of the National Election Council and the Election Press Center provided information on the election situation for deputies to the 16th National Assembly and deputies to People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term nationwide (as of 8:00 PM on March 15th, 2026).

Specifically regarding the situation and progress of voter participation in the election.   shows,   The total number of voters nationwide is 76,516,637; the number of voters who participated in the election is 76,043,527 (reaching a rate of 99.38%).  

Lao Cai province was the first locality to complete the election (5:45 PM) and, along with Hue City, was one of the two out of 34 localities to achieve a 100% voter turnout. Notably, Lao Cai province had 173 voters aged 100 and above (31 men and 142 women; two elderly individuals directly cast their votes: Mr. Giang Nu Sua, 114 years old, born in 1912, and Mrs. Sung Thi Du, 111 years old, born in 1915).

As of 8:00 PM on March 15, 2026, voter turnout in most localities reached over 99%: Ha Tinh 99.99%; Lai Chau: 99.97%; Tuyen Quang: 99.96%; Hue 99.92%; Dien Bien 99.91%; Lang Son: 99.82%; Thai Nguyen: 99.82%; Ca Mau 99.81%; Vinh Long: 99.67%; Can Tho 99.35%; Nghe An: 99.34%; Da Nang: 99.92%; Tay Ninh: 99.04%; Gia Lai: 99.02%; Quang Ngai: 99.01% .

Nationwide, no electoral district had a voter turnout rate below 50%.

A preliminary assessment of the election progress nationwide shows that most provinces in the northern mountainous region, despite their difficult terrain, have seen very active voter turnout, completing the process early with very high voter participation rates, such as: Lao Cai (100%); Lai Chau: 99.97%; Tuyen Quang: 99.96%; Dien Bien: 99.91%; Lang Son and Thai Nguyen: 99.82% .

In addition, some large provinces and cities have a large number of voters (over 3 million voters), and frequently experience fluctuations in the voter base.   However, the voter turnout was high, reaching over 99%; this demonstrates the tremendous efforts of the election organizations in these localities.

Regarding the election atmosphere, public opinion, and domestic and international press coverage of the election situation , according to the National Election Council, by the time the election concluded, polling stations nationwide maintained a stable, serious, and orderly atmosphere, strictly adhering to election laws and regulations. General public opinion remained confident, supportive, and in agreement with the election. The active participation of voters demonstrated a profound understanding of the value of their ballots.  

Domestic and international media outlets continue to closely follow and update the election developments. Their coverage focuses on the actual events of the election in provinces, cities, and polling areas; paying particular attention to the exercise of voting rights by Party and State leaders, members of the armed forces, elderly voters, young voters casting their ballots for the first time, ethnic minorities, religious leaders, voters in border areas, islands, mountainous regions, and other disadvantaged areas .   Through this, the overarching message is emphasized: the election was conducted democratically, systematically, and in accordance with legal procedures; reflecting a sense of responsibility and the joyful atmosphere of this national celebration.

In addition, many international media outlets continued to show interest in and report on Vietnam's Election Day, including: TASS, Sputnik, RT (Russia), KPL Lao News Agency Pasaxon (Laos), The Straits Times (Singapore), Nikkei Asia (Japan), and Yonhap News Agency (Korea) .   As of 7:00 PM, there were 6,402 news articles and reports about the election in newspapers, magazines, online portals, and specialized websites nationwide.
