In implementing the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program, producers in the province not only focus on developing the quantity and quality of products but also prioritize digital transformation in production, management, and distribution channels. As a result, many OCOP products have expanded their markets, affirming their quality and reputation with consumers through transparent origin information thanks to digital technology .
Binh Son Agricultural and Forestry Cooperative (Trieu Son) conducted a livestream to sell its products at the thematic exhibition "Promoting the strength of national unity to build Thanh Hoa into a prosperous, beautiful, and civilized province" in 2024.
As of mid-November 2024, the province had 548 products certified with OCOP 3 to 5 stars. Most products were highly rated for their quality and design, and were widely consumed in the market. Given the strong development of digital technology, most OCOP producers have digitized one or more stages in their production, business, and consumption processes. They view this as a fundamental solution to enhance the economic value and market influence of their products.
In 2020, the 3-star rating for fresh cordyceps products opened up new development opportunities for Thao Ngoc Viet Joint Stock Company (Nghi Son town) in its development strategy. Mr. Trinh Duc Trong, Director of the company, said: “Besides investing in machinery for the production process to create the best products, we also focus on product distribution. The company has registered an exclusive trademark and attached QR codes to each product, allowing consumers to easily trace the origin and maintain the brand of this distinctive product. By scanning the code to look up information, consumers can understand the entire production process and quality standards of the product, thereby making comparisons and choices to ensure the best outcome.”
It is known that, through registering barcodes and applying digitalization to the production process, Thao Ngoc Viet JSC's products have gained consumer trust. Currently, many of the company's products are processed from cordyceps, especially three products that have achieved OCOP 4-star status: dried cordyceps, whole cordyceps, and cordyceps capsules. The company focuses on promoting and selling these products on various platforms.
Online platforms such as Facebook, Zalo, and several e-commerce sites have become popular. Thanks to the widespread reach of this distribution channel, the number of goods sold through online channels and digital platforms accounts for up to 60% of orders, generating revenue of approximately 6 billion VND per year.
In recent times, Thanh Hoa province has undertaken numerous activities to support OCOP (One Commune One Product) businesses in promoting their products and expanding distribution channels. These include establishing many sales points and product showrooms for OCOP products, and connecting with various provincial, regional, and national supply-demand promotion conferences. OCOP businesses have also received support in promoting and selling their products on e-commerce platforms. This has contributed to the promotion and expansion of the OCOP product market.
The effectiveness and economic value of applying digital technology in the production and business of OCOP products have been proven. Therefore, more and more OCOP producers and products are "digitizing" from individual stages to the entire production process. Mr. Bui Cong Anh, Deputy Chief of the Provincial Rural Development Program Coordination Office, affirmed: "Digitizing OCOP products is not difficult at all. Because besides the support from the province, we also have a team of dynamic, proactive producers with knowledge of digital transformation and digital technology."
In the first months of 2024, departments, agencies, and localities coordinated to organize numerous training courses to guide and support businesses, cooperatives, and farmers' groups participating in e-commerce platforms. In addition, departments, agencies, and localities also supported the introduction, promotion, and sale of OCOP products online. This included assisting businesses in posting information and product origins on websites such as Ocoptinhthanhhoa.vn; nongsanantoanthanhhoa.vn; and on social media platforms like Facebook, Zalo, and TikTok. They also coordinated the organization of the "Thanh Hoa OCOP Market" livestream to introduce the province's agricultural specialties. Through these activities, approximately 600 OCOP businesses across the province participated in promoting and selling over 1,050 products on e-commerce platforms. By bringing products to e-commerce platforms, the consumption of safe agricultural products and food in the province has been boosted, and businesses and cooperatives have increased their average sales by 15-20% per year.
