Forming a digital trade union ecosystem
Utilizing chatbots as a support channel for workers to look up information and answer questions, building an electronic membership management system, promoting communication on digital platforms, or implementing an online "Trade Union Tet Market"... are specific activities that trade unions at all levels in Hue City have been carrying out to gradually change their operating methods and adapt to new requirements.
At MSV Co., Ltd. in Phu Bai Industrial Park, in addition to being applied by the company in production management and operations, this technology is gradually being integrated into trade union activities, creating notable changes in the way workers' rights are cared for, connected with, and protected.
Mr. Le Quy Hoang, Chairman of the Trade Union of MSV Company Limited, said that over the past two years, the grassroots trade union officials at the enterprise have been trained and gradually applied AI to practice. From developing activity programs, designing propaganda content, organizing online learning to supporting and answering questions about regulations and policies for union members, many tasks that previously took a lot of time to process manually are now done faster and more efficiently.
"We have used chatbots as a support channel to look up and answer frequently asked questions related to workers' rights and benefits. Data on income, working conditions, and labor productivity are compiled and analyzed to serve collective dialogue and bargaining, giving trade union proposals a more practical basis," Mr. Hoang shared.
Over the years, trade unions at all levels have built an electronic membership management system, gradually replacing the manual method of storing records. Currently, about 92% of membership data has been digitized, creating a foundation for timely information updates, understanding workers' needs, and implementing targeted support programs.
Innovate to meet the requirements.
Communication efforts have also undergone many changes. Through fanpages, Zalo groups, and online platforms, information about labor laws and policies, welfare programs, Workers' Month activities, and classes for union members' children is conveyed more quickly to workers. The application of AI in image design, video production, and content editing helps union officials reduce processing time and improve communication effectiveness.
Mr. Nguyen Quy, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) and Head of the City's Trade Union Affairs Committee, said that AI tools significantly save time in developing communication content, while creating more visual and accessible products for workers.
Digital transformation is also reflected in programs that care for workers. The "Trade Union Tet Market - Spring 2026" program, implemented on an e-commerce platform, has supported more than 4,000 union members in the city through electronic shopping vouchers worth 500,000 VND per person. Workers not only receive support but also proactively choose items that suit their family's needs.
The application of technology and digital data is contributing to making welfare programs more timely, practical, and relevant to needs. During the period 2023-2025, trade unions at all levels in Hue City provided care for over 1.6 million union members and workers with a total budget of over 177 billion VND through programs such as "Tet Reunion," "Trade Union Shelter," "Union Member's Wish," "Trade Union Meal," and many other welfare activities.
According to Mr. Le Minh Nhan, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hue City and Chairman of the Hue City Labor Union, digital transformation is changing the way workers work, study, and access information. With an increasingly young workforce capable of quickly adapting to technology and modern working environments, trade unions must also innovate their methods of operation to meet practical requirements.
"Digital transformation is not simply about applying technology to daily work, but about innovating the working methods of trade unions. The ultimate goal is to improve service quality, promptly understand the thoughts and aspirations of workers, and effectively implement programs to care for union members," Mr. Le Minh Nhan affirmed.
| Following the reorganization of its structure, the City Federation of Labor Unions currently manages 441 grassroots trade unions with 54,333 members out of a total of 60,219 workers. With a streamlined organizational structure, digital transformation is becoming a crucial foundation for innovating operational methods. From member management and propaganda work to welfare programs, these developments are contributing to bringing the trade union organization closer to its members and workers. |
