According to observations, during the first two days of the holiday, supermarkets, stores, and some markets in Pleiku City were quite bustling with shopping activity. Consumer spending increased by 30-50% compared to normal days. In addition, sales of electronics and fashion items increased by 30-100% thanks to promotional programs aimed at stimulating consumer demand.
At major supermarkets in the area such as Co.opmart Pleiku and WinMart Pleiku, purchasing power has increased sharply for ready-to-eat food, beverages, fruits, and frozen foods. This year, many convenience stores and supermarkets have also launched pre-prepared food combos such as: grilled meat, marinated seafood, roasted chicken, etc., all pre-packaged.
Mr. Vo Ngoc Trong, Director of Winmart Pleiku Supermarket, said: “During the April 30th and May 1st holidays, the supermarket implemented major discounts, including a 20% discount for Win members on Meatdeli clean meat products and WinEco vegetables; promotions of 20-35% on various fruits; and special discounted prices on beverages. For cosmetics, the supermarket applied promotions of up to 50%... These deep discounts and promotions supported customers' shopping, resulting in a significant increase in the supermarket's sales. Over the two-day holiday, the number of customers visiting and shopping doubled compared to normal days. This year, the holiday period is longer, so the supermarket expects a sales growth target of 39-50%.”

Besides large retail chains, the shopping atmosphere at markets is also much more bustling. Some fresh food items such as pork, chicken, fish, and green vegetables have seen a slight increase of about 3-5% compared to normal days due to increased transportation costs.
Ms. Mai Thi Tham, a fruit vendor at Hoa Lu Market in Pleiku City, said: “In the past few days, the number of customers has increased significantly. On average, I sell about 250 kilograms of various fruits each day. Currently, some early-season fruits are quite expensive, while most others maintain stable prices.”
Taking advantage of the opportunity to shop for food to host a party at home, Ms. Nguyen Thi Van (Group 2, Hoa Lu Ward, Pleiku City) shared: “During the holiday, I found goods to be abundant and prices stable. Only some fresh items like seafood increased by 10-20 thousand VND/kg due to high demand. To meet consumer demand, some vendors also offer ready-made food preparation services, which is very convenient.”

Along major streets in Pleiku City such as Phan Dinh Phung, Hung Vuong, Tran Phu, and Nguyen Van Troi, many fashion stores are displaying large promotional signs with discounts commonly ranging from 30-50%. Not only are franchised stores offering significant discounts, but even smaller shops are joining the price war to attract customers.
At Marc fashion shop (Hoang Van Thu Street, Pleiku City), the number of visitors and shoppers has been high since the shop launched its promotion, offering a 50% discount on selected items and a buy-one-get-one-free program, running from April 23rd to May 1st. Ms. Nguyen Thi Diem My, a sales employee, said: “Understanding the trend of people shopping early to prepare for their trips , the shop has imported a wide variety of clothing and accessories. Average daily sales during the promotion doubled compared to normal days.”

For home appliances, this promotion coincides with the start of the hot season, so there are deep discounts of 20-50% on items such as air coolers, air conditioners, blenders, etc. Items like TVs, speakers, washing machines, water purifiers, etc., are discounted by 15-40%.
Mr. Nguyen Thuong Phi Khanh, Shift Manager of Dien May Xanh Supermarket (47 Tran Phu Street, Pleiku City), said: "Launching special promotional programs not only helps stimulate consumer demand but also contributes to creating a lively and exciting atmosphere during the extended holiday. This year, the promotional program will run from April 26th to May 4th with discounts of 10-50% on most items; some products will also have additional discounts of 500,000 to 3 million VND per product. Furthermore, on April 30th, customers born in 1975 will receive an additional 10% discount. Especially on May 3rd, Dien May Xanh will have a lucky draw with the grand prize being a refrigerator..."

"In the past few days, the number of customers coming to shop has doubled compared to normal days. We expect that in the next three days, the shopping atmosphere will be even more vibrant, giving the market a further boost," said Mr. Khanh.
Thanks to thorough preparation from distribution and retail businesses, the supply of goods on the market remains abundant. In addition, the implementation of numerous promotional programs and deep discounts has contributed to stimulating consumer demand and effectively serving people's shopping needs during the holiday season.
