The Sun reports that after parting ways with striker Olivier Giroud (who joined Lille), LAFC had hoped to secure the services of Son. However, the American club's ambitions are unlikely to be realized.
Son is still considering the possibility of leaving Tottenham this summer, after winning his first major title in the Europa League in the 2024/25 season. He currently has one year remaining on his contract, earning around £200,000 per week.
Son is expected to return to training next week to undergo comprehensive tests and will have a face-to-face meeting with new manager Thomas Frank. The Danish strategist still values Son's influence and wants to keep him at the club.
Besides LAFC, Son also attracted interest from clubs in the Saudi Pro League and Fenerbahce, managed by Jose Mourinho, who previously coached him at Tottenham.
The Sun predicts Son is likely to remain with Tottenham. Spurs selling the South Korean captain before their Asian tour in early August would be a major shock.
If Spurs have to part ways with the South Korean striker, they expect to receive a large transfer fee. Besides his proven class, Son also brings significant commercial benefits to the club thanks to his immense influence in his homeland.
