Through the people's votes, trust in the Party, the State, and the country's development path continues to be strengthened, creating a new source of power for the upcoming development journey.
Strength for a new phase of development
The elections for the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term were successfully held nationwide. According to the Office of the National Election Council, as of 11 PM on March 15th, the voter turnout reached 99.68%. The elections took place in a democratic, responsible, and confident atmosphere.
The 2013 Constitution affirms that state power belongs to the people; the people exercise that power through the National Assembly , People's Councils at all levels, and through forms of direct democracy. The recent election vividly demonstrated this constitutional principle. Each voter cast entrusted their faith and expectations to their representatives.
Following the elections, a new term of the National Assembly and local elected bodies will soon be formed. These elected representatives, chosen by the people, will participate in deciding important national and local issues in the coming years: building and perfecting institutions; promoting socio- economic development; ensuring national defense and security; and caring for the people's well-being. This responsibility is both a great honor and demands a high sense of accountability to the people and the nation.
The success of the election was not only reflected in the very high voter turnout, but also in the sense of responsibility of the people. In many places, elderly voters still arrived at polling stations early; young people who had just turned 18 eagerly exercised their civic right for the first time. Before voting, many people proactively researched the action programs, capabilities, and qualities of the candidates. These images show the increasingly heightened civic awareness and reflect the maturity of democratic life in society.
The election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and representatives to People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term is taking place in the context of the country entering a new stage of development. The 14th National Congress of the Party has just been successfully held, defining major orientations for Vietnam's development in the coming period, with the goal of faster and more sustainable development, based on science and technology , innovation, digital transformation, while strongly promoting the nation's endogenous resources.
In this context, the 2026-2031 term of the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels is of particular importance. This is the period for implementing the major orientations set forth by the 14th National Congress of the Party, while also creating a foundation for the country to move towards important development milestones in the coming decades.
Looking at it more broadly, this term also holds pivotal significance in the course of action towards the country's major goals: the 100th anniversary of the Party's founding (2030) and the 100th anniversary of the nation's founding (2045). To realize these goals, the country needs an increasingly完善 institutional system, an effective and efficient state apparatus, and a team of officials and representatives with sufficient dedication, vision, and capacity to shoulder their responsibilities to the people.
In the cultural and political traditions of the Vietnamese people, the selection and utilization of talented individuals has always been considered a decisive factor in the nation's development. Today, this spirit continues to be promoted through modern democratic mechanisms, in which elections are an important form for the people to directly choose their representatives.
Based on the trust placed in each vote, the new term of the National Assembly and elected bodies at all levels will begin with the great expectations of the people: to continue improving institutions, unlocking resources, and leading the country to advance faster on the path of sustainable development.
