SpoTV News reported that on the evening of August 23, Suga - a member of the group BTS, was present at the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul to serve the investigation into the drunk driving incident that occurred on August 6.
Appearing before the press with short hair and a suit, Suga (real name Min Yoon Gi, 31 years old) bowed his head and expressed his remorse.
"First of all, I am very sorry. I am truly reflecting on having caused great disappointment to many fans and the public. I will honestly cooperate in the investigation. I apologize once again," the male artist expressed.
The incident in question occurred on August 6, when Suga fell while riding an electric scooter near his home in Hannam-dong, Yongsan District, Seoul. Police on patrol discovered it and conducted a breathalyzer test.
Suga initially claimed he had only had one beer before driving. However, the test results showed that his blood alcohol concentration was 0.227%, far above the legal limit of 0.2%.
The incident was further complicated by the fact that Suga's side initially described the vehicle as an "electric skateboard" instead of an electric scooter, raising suspicions of an attempt to minimize the severity of the incident. Additionally, the information that Suga paid the fine and returned his license before being officially punished also caused controversy.
According to SpoTV News , the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul previously indicted Suga for violating the Road Traffic Act (drunken driving). During today's investigation, the authorities are expected to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the route traveled and the distance Suga drove while intoxicated.
This is the first time Suga has been seen in front of the police since the incident. He is currently serving as a public service worker at an organization in Yongsan District and went to the police station after work.
The incident has caused a stir in public opinion and raised concerns about the behavior of famous artists. Fans and the public are waiting for the results of the investigation as well as an official response from BTS' management company HYBE.
