Sunderland have 12th new player

Sunderland are on course to complete the signing of Nordi Mukiele from PSG for a fee of around €12m, marking their 12th signing of the summer of 2025.

According to RMC Sport , Sunderland are close to completing the signing of Mukiele, with both the club and the player agreeing personal terms. The deal marks a major step forward in Sunderland's plans to strengthen their squad ahead of the start of the 2025/26 Premier League season.

Mukiele, who can play at right-back or centre-back, is highly regarded for his versatility and experience at major tournaments. With 100 Bundesliga appearances for RB Leipzig (2018-2022), 30 UEFA Champions League appearances, and a record for France, he is seen as a quality addition to Sunderland's defence.

Sunderland have had an impressive summer transfer window with 11 new signings. According to Opta , Sunderland are the team with the most new signings in the Premier League this season. Among the top 5 major leagues in Europe, only Como (Serie A) has a similar number of new players to Sunderland.

Mukiele's arrival will see Sunderland surpass the 160.5 million euro mark in summer 2025, ranking fifth in the Premier League's biggest spenders, behind MU, Arsenal, Man City and Liverpool. However, if we calculate the actual spending (money spent on players minus money spent on players sold), Sunderland will spend even more than Liverpool (101 million euros) or Tottenham (110 million euros). The Black Cats' spending is only behind MU, Arsenal and Man City.
