Tan Chau aims to become a central urban area.

With the achievements made during the 2020-2025 term, the Party Committee, government, and people of Tan Chau are orienting themselves towards building a rapidly developing, sustainable, and modern central urban area in the northern part of An Giang province.

Highlights of the 2020-2025 term

According to the Political Report of the Tan Chau Ward Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term, despite facing many difficulties, with the spirit of unity, creativity, and the efforts of the entire Party Committee, the support of the people, and the close guidance of the former Tan Chau Town Party Committee, socio-economic development in the ward has achieved many positive results. Social welfare work has been given attention; national defense, security, order, and social safety have been maintained.

Every year, the Party Committee of the ward achieves the title of "clean and strong". The ward was recognized as meeting the standards of a civilized urban area in 2024. Notably, it completed 13 out of 13 targets set in the congress resolution, with 6 targets significantly exceeding the plan.

The economy maintains stable growth, with a positive structural shift: the proportion of trade and services is increasing, while the proportion of agriculture is gradually decreasing. By 2025, the average per capita income of the ward is estimated to reach 88 million VND/year, far exceeding the set target (69.89 million VND). The poverty rate has decreased to 0.62%, and over 95.7% of the population participates in health insurance.

Infrastructure development has received comprehensive investment across 39 projects, totaling over 198 billion VND; 35 projects to upgrade alleyways, costing over 10.5 billion VND, have contributed to creating a more modern urban landscape. The movement for national unity in building a cultured way of life has developed extensively.

Nguyen Minh Hung, Secretary of the Tan Chau Ward Party Committee, affirmed: “The achievements of the past term are proof of the unity and solidarity of the entire Party Committee and the people of the ward. This is an important prerequisite for the ward to make a strong breakthrough, aiming to become a central urban area in the northern region of An Giang province.”

Accelerate development

For the 2025-2030 term, Tan Chau ward faces many new opportunities. The goal set for 2030 is to develop Tan Chau ward into a central urban area in the northern part of the province, with specific targets including: average per capita income reaching 120 million VND/year; average economic growth rate of 10%/year; reducing the multidimensional poverty rate to 0.33%; achieving a 97% rate of participation in universal health insurance; and 100% of schools meeting national standards, with at least one school meeting level 2 standards.

To realize this goal, the Party Committee of the ward has identified many key tasks and solutions. These focus on three strategic breakthroughs: Continuing to improve urban infrastructure, emphasizing environmental landscape, and developing a smart, green, clean, and beautiful city; streamlining the organizational structure towards a "lean, efficient, effective, and efficient" approach, building a friendly, people-oriented government that serves the people; and developing high-quality human resources, promoting the application of science and technology, and digital transformation; encouraging the development of the private economy to create new impetus for growth.

In addition, the ward prioritizes sustainable economic development towards modernizing the trade, service, and high-quality tourism sectors; developing new technology industries; promoting the development of high-tech ecological agriculture, linked with OCOP products. At the same time, it promotes investment in education and healthcare, cares for social welfare, and improves the living standards of its residents.

Deputy Secretary of the Tan Chau Ward Party Committee, Vo Thi Kim Dinh, emphasized: “In the coming period, Tan Chau will focus on mobilizing all resources and promoting the spirit of unity and creativity to build the ward into a central urban area in the northern part of the province. This is a major goal, requiring high determination and decisive action.”

With a solid foundation built on past achievements and the support of the people, we believe that Tan Chau ward will gradually realize its aspiration to become a central urban area, making a significant contribution to the province's development.

Promoting democracy, the strength of great unity, strengthening control of power, preventing and combating corruption, waste, and negative phenomena,” said Nguyen Van Doan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Tan Chau Ward.
