According to reports, although not directly affected by Typhoon No. 13, the powerful waves caused erosion along approximately 1.2km of coastline in Hien An 1 and Hien An 2 villages, encroaching 10-15m inland, with the deepest areas reaching 20m, causing Ham Rong beach to be severely deformed. Numerous beachfront shops and restaurants have collapsed, their foundations crumbling, and sections of concrete cracked, creating dangerous deep holes underneath.
Mr. Tran Trong Quang, a restaurant owner on Ham Rong beach, said that for many years, the area has continuously suffered from heavy and prolonged rainfall. Combined with fierce waves, the land has been eroded little by little. “Previously, there were two rows of large, healthy coconut trees in front of the restaurant overlooking Ham Rong beach. For the past two years, the waves have been strong, eroding one row of coconut trees each year. This year is the worst; the waves have hit the foundation of the restaurant, and the land is collapsing in chunks,” Mr. Quang said.
The deformation of Ham Rong beach has completely disrupted the lives and businesses of many households here. The people are hoping for the weather to stabilize soon so they can repair the damage.

According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Dung, Chairman of the Vinh Loc Commune People's Committee, recent years have caused serious erosion along 4.1km of the local coastline. This situation not only deprives businesses on Ham Rong beach of their livelihoods but also damages the homes and property of local residents.
The People's Committee of the commune has requested that Hue City urgently address the serious erosion points and allocate funds for the construction of sturdy seawalls and dikes. Preventing coastal erosion requires a very large amount of funding, with an estimated cost of 120 billion VND per kilometer. Initially, the local authorities are requesting and hoping for 200 billion VND to be allocated for temporary reinforcement, especially in areas severely affected by erosion.
