Upholding the traditional moral principle of "Drinking water, remembering the source," over the years, the Party Committee, government, and people of all ethnic groups in Tan Son district have always paid attention to implementing policies for wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, and those who have contributed to the revolution, expressing their profound gratitude to the generations of ancestors who dedicated themselves to the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

During the recent Lunar New Year of the Year of the Dragon 2024, Mrs. Phung Thi Tuyet's family in Xuan Dai commune had an extra reason to celebrate. After many years living in an old, dilapidated house, Mrs. Tuyet and her children finally had the opportunity to build a new, more spacious home. Thanks to the support of the district, relatives, and neighbors, the new, sturdy house was completed, allowing Mrs. Tuyet to enjoy her old age in peace.
Mrs. Tuyet is the wife of martyr Ha Quang Vinh, who died on April 29, 1975, just one day before the country achieved complete independence. After her husband's death, Mrs. Phung Thi Tuyet raised her two sons alone. Due to difficult economic conditions, relying on a few acres of rice paddies barely enough to feed the family, they were unable to build a house. Understanding their plight, Tan Son district provided the family with 10 million VND in assistance and mobilized relatives and neighbors to contribute labor, money, and materials to help the family build a sturdy and spacious home.
Currently, the total number of people with meritorious service and their relatives receiving monthly allowances in the district is 759. In the first six months of the year, the "Gratitude and Remembrance" and "Remembering the Source" campaigns have been widely implemented by the entire political system of the district, aiming to mobilize all resources in society and the community, along with the State, to better care for the spiritual and material lives of people with meritorious service and their relatives.

During the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Dragon 2024, Tan Son district presented 1,142 gifts to war veterans and their relatives, totaling 342.6 million VND. On the occasion of the 77th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2024), the district presented 1,206 gifts worth 359 million VND. |
Besides effectively implementing policies, every year the district, along with various levels and sectors, invests funds in repairing, renovating, and upgrading memorials to fallen heroes and martyrs in the area. At the same time, it mobilizes organizations from the district to the commune level, as well as schools, to organize maintenance, cleaning, and beautification of the area, and to educate students in the district about the tradition of "remembering the source when drinking water."
Comrade Hoang Manh Hung, Head of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Tan Son District, said: “In the coming time, the Department will continue to advise the Party Committee and the government to focus on better implementing the Ordinance on Preferential Treatment for People with Meritorious Contributions to the Revolution, and other socio-economic preferential policies and benefits for people with meritorious contributions and their relatives. In addition, we will pay attention to education, training, vocational training, loan programs, job creation, and practical assistance for people with meritorious contributions and their children. At the same time, we will urgently review, verify, and fundamentally resolve outstanding cases to address the benefits and policies for people with meritorious contributions and their relatives in the coming years.”
In the atmosphere of July, as the whole country turns its attention to paying tribute to the immense contributions of the Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, martyrs, wounded soldiers, and sick soldiers... the younger generation is more aware and understands than ever before the great sacrifices of previous generations, always striving to cultivate moral character and revolutionary ideals, and building a more prosperous and beautiful Tan Son homeland.
