Village Chief Nguyen Van Deo informs people about health policies |
Arriving at Ra Loóc - A Soc village early in the morning, the first image we saw was women "following" a herd of cows up the hill to find grass. When guests started talking, the women happily told us: The men, the pillars of the family, had gone into the forest and fields to work since dawn.
“They are the ones who have made the changes and developments in the locality,” Mr. Nguyen Van Deo affirmed with an excited smile. The Pa Co man, who has been a Party member for 12 years, recalled that 10 years ago, in 2015, when he was elected as Village Chief by the people, he told himself that he had to try his best not to disappoint the trust of the people, the government, and the Party.
Each household that complies well with policies and develops the family economy well is joining hands and creating strength to build a developed homeland. “In my role as Village Chief, I am determined to work with the Party cell secretary, the head of the Front Committee and mass organizations to propagate and mobilize people to have a clear ideology and take action,” Mr. Deo shared.
One of the major policies is to expand, upgrade, and concretize roads, which has been unanimously responded to by the people of Ra Loóc - A Soc village. People donated thousands of square meters of land (including home gardens and cultivated land), cut down trees on the land, filled fish ponds, etc., to work with the State to expand and upgrade 4 roads, extending from residential areas to production areas. The expanded and concretized roads have brought Ra Loóc - A Soc village a spacious appearance and convenience in transportation and production development. The consensus of the people is thanks to the close coordination and persistent advocacy and persuasion of Village Chief Nguyen Van Deo.
“At first, we did not agree. Losing land is already a pity, but cutting down fruit trees such as persimmons and oranges that have been fertilized for years and have just produced sweet fruit for several seasons; cutting down a patch of cajuput trees that have just taken root and grown green is a pity. But thinking back, the village chief's analysis made a lot of sense. After building the road, instead of having to spend all day carrying cassava from the field back home like before, trucks can go straight to the field to transport it, in just a few hours. Trucks can go all the way to transport acacia trees, and their value has also increased two or three times. The benefits are long-term, to the children and grandchildren. So, we listened,” said Mr. Ho Van Ke and Mr. Ho Van Kien, the pioneers in donating land and assets on the land.
According to the Head of Ra Loóc - A Sóc village, the villagers are very hard-working and diligent, but they are not bold in investing and searching for suitable economic development models. Struggling to find ways to help people escape poverty and develop a sustainable economy, Mr. Đèo has guided the villagers to access capital from the Social Policy Bank and projects brought to the locality by all levels.
With the support of the village chief, poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged households boldly borrowed policy capital; were supported with pig, cow, chicken breeds, etc. From here, dozens of households in the village have risen up to change their lives. Typically, the households of Mr. Le Van Ngát and Mr. Tran Van Phan, from 1 initially supported breeding cow, have now built a herd of 12-14 cows per household. The households of Mr. Nguyen Van Hich and Mr. Le Van Luy, from the initial pair of breeding pigs, have developed pig farming, raising two litters a year, each litter of more than 20 pigs for meat.
“Under the dedicated “guidance” of Village Chief Nguyen Van Deo, Ra Loóc - A Soc village is a bright spot in the commune’s new rural construction, in economic development and in strengthening the great solidarity among the community,” said Mr. Dinh Viet Cuong, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Hong Bac commune.
Over the past 10 years, Mr. Nguyen Van Deo has received more than 40 certificates of merit from all levels in recognition of his contributions to the community. |
