| Village head Nguyen Van Deo informed the people about healthcare policies. |
Arriving at Ra Loóc - A Sốc village early in the morning, the first thing we saw was women following herds of cattle up the hill in search of grass. When we struck up a conversation, they happily explained that the men, the breadwinners of their families, had gone into the forest and fields to work since dawn.
“They are the ones who have brought about the changes and development of the locality,” Mr. Nguyen Van Deo affirmed with a joyful smile. The Pa Co man, a 12-year-old Party member, recalled that 10 years ago, in 2015, when he was elected village head by the people, he vowed to do his utmost not to betray the trust of the people, the government, and the Party.
Each household that strictly adheres to policies and develops its family economy well is contributing to building a prosperous homeland. "As the village head, I am determined to work with the Party branch secretary, the head of the Fatherland Front committee, and other organizations to disseminate information and mobilize the people so that they understand the ideology and take action," Mr. Đẽo shared.
One of the major initiatives, the expansion, upgrading, and paving of roads, has been wholeheartedly supported by the people of Ra Loóc - A Sốc village. The villagers donated thousands of square meters of land (including their gardens and cultivated land), cut down trees, filled in fish ponds, etc., to cooperate with the government in expanding and upgrading four roads, extending from the residential area to the production zone. These expanded and paved roads have given Ra Loóc - A Sốc village a more modern appearance, along with improved transportation and production development. The villagers' unanimous support is thanks to the close cooperation and persistent efforts of Village Head Nguyen Van Deo in persuading them.
“At first, we didn’t agree. Losing land was already regrettable, but cutting down fruit trees like persimmons and oranges that we had nurtured for years and had yielded sweet fruit for several seasons, and cutting down the acacia trees that had just taken root and turned green, was even more regrettable. But thinking about it, the village head’s analysis made a lot of sense. With the road built, instead of spending a whole day carrying cassava from the fields back home like before, trucks can come right to the fields and transport it quickly, in just a few hours. Trucks can also come directly to transport acacia trees, increasing their value two or three times. The benefits are long-lasting, reaching our children and grandchildren. So, we listened,” said Mr. Ho Van Ke and Mr. Ho Van Kien, pioneers in donating land and assets on the land.
According to the village head of Ra Loóc - A Sốc, the villagers are very hardworking and resilient, but they lack the boldness to invest and explore suitable economic development models. Concerned about finding ways to help the villagers escape poverty and achieve sustainable economic development, Mr. Đẽo guided them in accessing capital from the Social Policy Bank and projects brought to the locality by various levels of government.
With the support of the village head, poor, near-poor, and disadvantaged households boldly borrowed policy-based loans; they also received support in the form of livestock such as pigs, cows, and chickens. From this, dozens of households in the village have risen to transform their lives. Typical examples include the households of Mr. Le Van Ngat and Mr. Tran Van Phan, who, starting with one cow provided as initial support, have now built up herds of 12-14 cows each. Similarly, the households of Mr. Nguyen Van Hich and Mr. Le Van Luy, starting with a pair of breeding pigs, have developed pig farming, raising two litters per year, each litter producing over 20 market-ready pigs.
“Under the dedicated leadership of Village Head Nguyen Van Deo, Ra Looc - A Soc village is a shining example in the new rural development of the commune, in economic development and in strengthening the solidarity among the local community,” said Mr. Dinh Viet Cuong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hong Bac commune.
Over the past 10 years, Mr. Nguyen Van Deo has received more than 40 certificates of commendation and awards from various levels of government in recognition of his contributions to the community. |
