(NLĐO) – World gold prices continue their dramatic surge, reaching new record highs and heading towards the $3,000/ounce mark.
At 10 PM on March 13th, Vietnam time, the price of gold on the international market surged continuously, surpassing its previous peak of around $2,950 per ounce and setting a new record high.
The all-time high reached $2,974 per ounce, an increase of $70 per ounce (approximately 2.2 million VND per tael) compared to the previous session's low. This represents a very strong increase in gold prices within a single session.
On several forums, many investors expressed surprise that the price of gold not only repeatedly broke previous records and set new highs, but also surged unexpectedly.
Gold prices surged following the release of the US Producer Price Index (PPI) for February, which remained unchanged from the previous month and fell short of forecasts. This continues the trend of inflation being controlled at a lower-than-expected level, following the Consumer Price Index (CPI) report the day before. However, some analysts believe gold prices are experiencing "unusual volatility," with continuous sharp increases despite the absence of significant disruptive factors.
Since the beginning of 2025, the price of precious metals has increased by $370 per ounce, equivalent to a rise of over 14% after a 30% increase in 2024. Gold is becoming an attractive investment channel for international investors.
