(PLVN) - To achieve the goal of welcoming 18 million tourists from now until the end of the year, Vietnam's tourism industry is actively developing and introducing attractive tourism products to attract people to visit and explore , especially at this time, when autumn is arriving in many provinces and cities across the country.

Create unique experiences.

Vietnam is entering autumn, a time with many beautiful tourist destinations and attractive festivals. For example, Hanoi is actively promoting "Hanoi autumn" to become a tourism product that attracts both domestic and international visitors. Recently, the 2nd Hanoi Autumn Festival 2024, themed "Hanoi Autumn - A Historical Autumn," is taking place in the pedestrian area around Hoan Kiem Lake and several other tourist spots in Hanoi.

The Hanoi Autumn Festival features many unique activities with the participation of nearly 100 booths from tourism units, businesses, airlines, and tourism promotion booths from 12 provinces and cities, including Dien Bien, Tuyen Quang, Yen Bai, Son La, Phu Tho, Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa... and the People's Committees of districts and communes in Hanoi. The festival includes creative cultural spaces for visitors to take photos, such as: a model of a welcoming gate recreating the image of Hanoi covered in flags and flowers welcoming the victorious army returning home; models of the "Hanoi Flagpole," "Hang Co Station - The Historical Train Journey," "O Quan Chuong Gate," and "Garden of Lights"; and miniature scenes introducing attractive tourist destinations in autumn, such as the Long Bien Bridge and Hanoi Old Quarter.

The tourism industry in provinces and localities is continuing to exploit tourism products based on the traditional culture of the nation. Many provinces and cities are beginning to incorporate folk games into their tours. Statistics show that among tourists visiting the Red River Delta who participate in or watch folk games and performances, 65% of international tourists reported having participated or watched them, while only 46% of domestic tourists did. Dr. Truong Sy Vinh, Deputy Director of the Institute for Tourism Development Research (Vietnam National Tourism Administration), stated that promoting intangible cultural heritage values is a major direction in the development of Vietnamese tourism. However, in many regions across the country, including the Red River Delta, despite its rich cultural heritage, the exploitation of cultural values in conjunction with tourism remains weak, lacking diversity and effectiveness.

In particular, to stimulate tourism after Typhoon Yagi, many localities have integrated numerous tours with humanitarian significance. For example, in recent times, the number of tourists visiting Lao Cai province has decreased sharply compared to the period before the typhoon. Tours in September were almost completely canceled, resulting in a revenue drop of approximately 80% compared to the same period in 2023. The estimated loss in the tourism sector is up to 15 billion VND.

Applying technology to enhance tourism.

In addition to creating unique and attractive tourism products, the Vietnamese tourism industry is actively applying technology to meet customer needs. Last September, HorecFex Vietnam 2024, held in Da Nang City, was an event promoting innovation and growth for the Vietnamese tourism and service business community.

Within the framework of the event, the Organizing Committee will introduce advanced robot models for use in the tourism and hospitality industry. Typical examples include technologically advanced robots designed and programmed with eye-catching appearances and intelligent features, which will be responsible for welcoming and guiding attendees. In addition, there will also be several smart delivery robots that can directly deliver food and answer questions with clear and concise responses.

In particular, the event also presented a range of information technology solutions to support customers in finding suitable accommodations, eateries, and restaurants. At the same time, through smart applications, the tourism industry in provinces and localities across Vietnam will easily access new global tourism trends.

One technology currently being adopted by many tourist destinations is 3D technology and augmented reality, aimed at enhancing the visual experience for visitors. Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Phuong, Head of the Tourism Technology and Information Department (Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism), stated that tourism events such as the Tourism Festival, the Ao Dai Festival, and the Ho Chi Minh City River Festival have attracted millions of visitors, both directly and indirectly, through technological platforms. The technological applications being implemented by the tourism industry and the Department of Tourism, such as 3D maps and 360-degree maps at nearly 100 destinations, enable visitors to interact intelligently.

Finally, tourist destinations in Vietnam have been actively applying digital technology to promote their tourism products in a variety of ways, including: establishing websites, using social media platforms like Zalo and Facebook for promotion, so that both domestic and international tourists can learn about them.
