Increase information, create opportunities.

In recent times, Can Tho City has organized many activities to improve both the quantity and quality of sending workers abroad under contract. This includes focusing on strengthening communication through various forms to ensure workers have easy access to and understanding of official information, increasing their confidence in the safety, stability, and effectiveness of overseas employment.

The city's Employment Service Center invites businesses to participate in job fairs to provide advice and recruit workers for overseas employment.

From 2022 to the present, the city has sent 2,508 workers abroad for employment. This demonstrates the efforts and proactive approach of all levels, sectors, and functional units in implementing many practical and feasible solutions. From February 2025, every Saturday, workers can spend time at the Can Tho City Employment Service Center in Ninh Kieu District and Anh Nguyen Cafe in Phuoc Thoi Ward, O Mon District, experiencing the "job cafe" model. Here, workers can enjoy refreshments, listen to relaxing music, access information, receive advice, and be introduced to job opportunities, with businesses conducting preliminary selections for candidates working both domestically and abroad. In addition, the city's Employment Service Center continuously posts information on its overseas employment activities on the Can Tho Job Portal; the Overseas Employment Portal; the Center's Facebook/Zalo/TikTok channels; and publishes an overseas employment newsletter. Besides disseminating recruitment information to communes, wards, towns, training schools, and collaborator groups, the Center coordinates the organization of job fairs, job counseling points, and job days… attracting many businesses to participate in order to promptly and widely disseminate information on sending workers abroad to laborers. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu from Thoi Hoa A hamlet, Thoi Lai town, Thoi Lai district, whose son will be working in Japan at the end of 2024, said: “After working at a garment factory for about 10 years, my son wanted to work in Japan. After seeing information about overseas job recruitment on social media, my son was introduced by officials of the Thoi Lai Town People's Committee to contact the City Employment Service Center for guidance on the necessary documents and procedures.” The city's Employment Service Center organizes job interviews for workers, holds meetings for workers and their families, organizes Korean language training classes, receives applications from workers registering for the Korean language test under the EPS Program, and provides basic Japanese communication skills to help them confidently attend interviews…

At the workshop for units and businesses sending workers abroad, held at the end of April 2025, after hearing information from businesses about their activities and proposals for enhanced coordination to promote the work, Mr. Tieu Minh Duong, Deputy Director of the City's Department of Internal Affairs, directed the City's Employment Service Center to promptly connect and update job orders with recruitment needs for overseas employment, including "hot" job orders, creating conditions to attract reputable businesses to participate in job fairs and recruitment events in Can Tho. At the same time, he instructed them to further strengthen communication methods to disseminate official and specific information about the city's support policies for workers seeking to work abroad more quickly and effectively.

According to the City Branch of the Social Policy Bank, implementing Resolution No. 11/2023/NQ-HĐND, 64 workers have so far received loans to go abroad for work. Credit officers enthusiastically guided borrowers in completing applications and procedures, and disbursed funds quickly according to regulations. With this support, city workers have the opportunity to go abroad for work, improve themselves, and enhance their quality of life. According to Ms. Le Thanh Phuong from Dinh Thanh hamlet, Dinh Mon commune, Thoi Lai district, she received thorough and prompt guidance on loan application and emigration procedures. Ms. Phuong received a loan of 90 million VND and will start working in Japan in early 2025. Ms. Phuong is currently working in product packaging, earning 28-30 million VND per month, not including overtime.

Currently, the city has signed contracts with over 20 businesses to recruit workers from Can Tho to work abroad. According to Mr. Nguyen Tan Phuoc, representative of AMC International Investment Joint Stock Company, the company regularly participates in job fairs organized by the city's Employment Service Center to provide recruitment advice. The city's labor force is diverse, abundant, and has great potential. If given attention and support with preferential policies, workers will be more confident in applying for overseas employment.

In the coming period, the city will strengthen communication solutions, implement preferential policies, select potential, reputable markets, and industries suitable for the city's workforce to promote overseas employment. Workers in need should access official information, benefit from policies, and confidently register for overseas employment to broaden their horizons, integrate into a dynamic work environment, develop industrial work habits, enrich themselves, and contribute to the city's socio -economic development.
