In the propaganda competitions organized by the industry and localities in recent times, in addition to the judges' scores, according to the rules, the results of the competition content also depend a lot on the number of votes from the total number of likes and shares on the fanpage.

As in the contest "Propaganda on studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style in 2024" of the Tam Ky City Party Committee, the score of the writing contest about typical advanced examples, good people and good deeds of the participating unit is the average score of the jury members and the online voting score of the audience on the Ban Thach Fanpage.

Mr. Pham Van Tuong - Deputy Head of the Propaganda Department of Tam Ky City Party Committee shared that many units have done a very good job of propaganda and mobilization to get thousands of likes and shares.

This is a very useful information channel to propagate and spread the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style, good people and good deeds in particular and the Party's guidelines and policies in general; at the same time, it is an extremely important means to fight to protect the Party's ideological foundation in the current period.

“The highlight in protecting the Party’s ideological foundation in Tam Ky is to mobilize and enlist the fanpage’s management board to have many members participate in organizing propaganda and orienting public opinion through spreading official information. As well as sharing and posting articles to fight and refute false and hostile arguments on cyberspace,” said Mr. Tuong.

“Along with political and ideological education, Party committees, agencies and units need to pay attention to managing cadres and party members well in their behavior in cyberspace. Expressing opinions and sharing unverified information in the form of “rumors” by cadres and party members in cyberspace must be strictly handled according to regulations.”

Young people's way

Young Party Clubs were established one after another - not beyond the desire to contribute the efforts and enthusiasm of young people to the work of protecting the Party's ideological foundation in cyberspace.

With the viewpoint of "taking the beauty, eliminating the ugliness", Quang Nam Provincial Youth Union has widely implemented the campaign "One good news every day - One beautiful story every week" on social networks, mobilizing cadres, union members, and youth to post and share good news and beautiful stories on their personal and organizational pages.

Ms. Pham Thi Thanh - Secretary of the Quang Nam Provincial Youth Union said that, promoting the role of "The Party's trusted reserve team", since 2020, the Provincial Youth Union has opened the column "Protecting the Party's ideological foundation" on the Provincial Youth Union website, posting more than 450 articles and attracting nearly 3 million visits/year.

In this section, articles defending the Party's ideological foundation, preventing peaceful evolution, and fighting against distorted arguments are published weekly.

Along with that, the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee also directed the district, town and city Youth Unions to have at least one article each week defending the Party's ideological foundation posted on the information channel of the district-level Youth Union.

In particular, to equip youth union members with skills and experience to identify and effectively combat the plots and tricks of hostile forces in cyberspace, the Provincial Youth Union coordinated with the Provincial Police to organize the forum "Quang Nam Youth strengthens the protection of the Party's ideological foundation, fights against erroneous and hostile views in cyberspace".

“Every year, at the political contests organized by the National Academy of Politics, the Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee directs all levels of the Youth Union across the province to actively respond. From there, it creates a widespread political movement among cadres and youth union members, while also guiding the Young Theory Clubs to invest in participating in many quality contests,” Ms. Thanh shared.

Strictly handle sharing of "rumors"

According to the Steering Committee of 35 provinces, propaganda work, fighting against wrong and hostile viewpoints and handling bad and toxic information on cyberspace is an urgent task, contributing to protecting the Party's ideological foundation in the province in the current period.

In recent times, Quang Nam has deployed the construction of a system of fanpages, groups, and personal Facebook accounts to serve the work of reporting bad news, removing accounts with bad, toxic, distorted information, and lowering the prestige of the Party's leadership; deploying activities to fight against and spread positive information, contributing to greening cyberspace.

Notably, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department issued Instruction No. 56 to implement Regulation No. 85, dated October 7, 2022 of the Central Secretariat on "cadres and party members establishing and using personal electronic information pages on the internet and social networks".

Thereby, contributing to limiting and preventing the situation of accessing, monitoring, sharing and spreading bad and toxic information content from the internet and social networks; raising awareness and responsibility of cadres and party members when participating in social networks.

Among the recognized limitations, according to the Steering Committee of 35 provinces, a part of internet and social network users, especially the young generation, still lack identification skills, are not aware of and do not clearly distinguish bad and toxic information on social networks, so they participate in sharing and commenting, unintentionally contributing to the dissemination of information.

In the coming time, the Steering Committee of 35 provinces will continue to innovate and improve the effectiveness of political and ideological education for cadres and party members, especially the younger generation, in order to raise revolutionary vigilance, the ability to "self-resist" and "self-immune" against the plots and tricks of hostile forces, reactionaries and bad elements. At the same time, each cadre, party member and social network user will become a "soldier" on the new front - cyberspace.
