In recent propaganda competitions organized by various sectors and localities, in addition to the judges' scores, according to the rules, the results of the competition also depend heavily on the number of votes from the total number of likes and shares on the fan page.

As in the "2024 Competition on Propagating the Study and Following of Ho Chi Minh's Ideology, Morality, and Style" organized by the Tam Ky City Party Committee, the score for the essay section on exemplary advanced individuals, good people, and good deeds of the participating unit is the average total score from the judging panel members and the online audience vote on the Ban Thach Fanpage.

Mr. Pham Van Tuong, Deputy Head of the Propaganda Department of Tam Ky City Party Committee, shared that many units have done very well in propaganda and mobilization work, resulting in thousands of likes and shares.

This is a very useful information channel for disseminating and promoting the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style, highlighting exemplary individuals and good deeds in particular, and the Party's policies and guidelines in general; it is also an extremely important means of defending the Party's ideological foundation in the current period.

"A key aspect of protecting the Party's ideological foundation in Tam Ky is mobilizing and enlisting the support of fanpage administrators with many members to participate in propaganda and guide public opinion through the dissemination of official information. This includes sharing and posting articles that combat and refute false and hostile narratives on the internet," Mr. Tuong said.

"Along with political and ideological education, Party committees, agencies, and units at all levels need to pay attention to managing the conduct of cadres and Party members in cyberspace. The expression of opinions and sharing of unverified information in the form of 'rumors' by cadres and Party members in cyberspace must be strictly dealt with according to regulations."

The way young people do things

One after another, Young Party Members' Clubs were established – all with the desire to contribute the energy and enthusiasm of youth to the work of protecting the Party's ideological foundation in cyberspace.

With the perspective of "promoting the good and eliminating the bad," the Quang Nam Provincial Youth Union has extensively implemented the campaign "One good news story every day - One beautiful story every week" on social media, encouraging officials, union members, and young people to post and share good news and beautiful stories on their personal and organizational pages.

According to Ms. Pham Thi Thanh, Secretary of the Quang Nam Provincial Youth Union, to promote the role of "the Party's reliable reserve force," since 2020, the Provincial Youth Union has launched a section on "Protecting the Party's ideological foundation" on its website, publishing more than 450 articles and attracting nearly 3 million visits per year.

This section features weekly articles defending the Party's ideological foundation, preventing peaceful evolution, and combating distorted narratives.

In addition, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union also directed the district, town, and city youth unions to publish at least one article per week defending the Party's ideological foundation on the district-level Youth Union's information channel.

In particular, to equip young people with the skills and experience to identify and effectively combat the schemes and tactics of hostile forces in cyberspace, the Provincial Youth Union, in coordination with the Provincial Police, organized the forum "Quang Nam Youth Strengthening the Protection of the Party's Ideological Foundation and Combating False and Hostile Viewpoints in Cyberspace".

“Every year, at the political essay competitions organized by the National Political Academy, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union directs all levels of the Youth Union throughout the province to actively participate. This creates a widespread political activity among cadres and youth union members, and also guides the Young Theorists Clubs to invest in participating with many high-quality entries,” Ms. Thanh shared.

Strict action will be taken against those who share "rumors".

According to the Provincial Steering Committee 35, the work of disseminating information, combating false and hostile viewpoints, and handling harmful and toxic information on the internet is an urgent task, contributing to protecting the ideological foundation of the Party in the province in the current period.

In recent times, Quang Nam province has been developing a system of fanpages, groups, and personal Facebook accounts to serve the work of reporting and removing accounts containing harmful, distorted, and defamatory information that undermines the reputation of Party leaders; and implementing activities to counter and spread positive information, contributing to greening the online space.

Notably, the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department issued Guideline No. 56 to implement Regulation No. 85, dated October 7, 2022, of the Central Party Secretariat on "cadres and Party members establishing and using personal websites on the internet and social networks".

This contributes to limiting and preventing access to, monitoring, sharing, and dissemination of harmful and toxic information from the internet and social media; and raising the awareness and responsibility of officials and Party members when participating in social media.

Among the recognized limitations, according to the Provincial Steering Committee 35, a segment of internet and social media users, especially the younger generation, still lack the skills to identify, recognize, and clearly distinguish between harmful and toxic information on social media, thus participating in sharing and commenting, inadvertently contributing to the dissemination of information.

In the coming period, the Provincial Steering Committee 35 will continue to innovate and improve the effectiveness of political and ideological education for cadres and Party members, especially the younger generation, in order to enhance revolutionary vigilance and the ability to "self-resist" and "self-immunize" against the schemes and tactics of hostile forces, reactionary elements, and evil individuals. At the same time, it will build each cadre, Party member, and social media user into a "soldier" on the new front – cyberspace.
