Without waiting for the warm weather, their footsteps have left their mark on every border road, busily preparing gifts and green sticky rice cakes, with the desire to "leave no one behind." Over the years, caring for the people during Tet has become a beautiful image, deeply imprinting the solidarity between the military and the people in the border regions of the Fatherland.

Amidst the chilly weather of the Muong Lan border region, the Tet (Lunar New Year) celebrations this year are more vibrant thanks to the joint efforts of the officers and soldiers of the Muong Lan Border Guard Post. The presence of these green-uniformed soldiers alongside the local people in the days leading up to Tet is a source of joy and a new beginning for a spring – a spring of sharing, prosperity, and enduring camaraderie.
In coordination with the Women's Union of the commune, the Muong Lan Border Guard Post brought warmth to Pa Kach village through the "Warm Clothes for the Spring Festival" program. In the cozy atmosphere around the warm fire, officers, soldiers, and villagers together wrapped 260 green sticky rice cakes (banh chung), sending the joy of Tet (Lunar New Year) to each family. Receiving the heartfelt gift from the border guards, Mr. Giang A Po, a resident of Pa Kach village, could not hide his emotion: "We are very happy to receive the soldiers' care, especially in the days leading up to Tet. With sticky rice cakes and gifts delivered directly to us, this Tet, every family in the village will have more comfort and warmth."

Those simple words of sharing also reflect the common sentiments of the people in the border region. Each gift given not only carries material value but also represents the sharing spirit and affection of the soldiers who year-round stand guard on the border. The journey of bringing Tet (Lunar New Year) to the people of Muong Lan is made even more complete with the installation of 100 solar-powered lamps from the "Lighting Up the Border" project in the villages of Nam Lan, Huoi Men, Kha, Cong, etc., contributing to illuminating faith and hope for a better life in the border region.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Mua Lao Thang, Deputy Political Officer of the Muong Lan Border Guard Station, this year the unit directly visited each village and household to inquire about and encourage the people. "We hope that each gift we give will further motivate the people to strive for economic development, so that each citizen truly becomes a 'living landmark,' working together with the border guards to maintain sovereignty and peace along the border," Lieutenant Colonel Mua Lao Thang shared.
Alongside social welfare activities, during the period leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), border guard units along the Son La border also proactively increased patrols and inspections, promptly detecting and preventing violations of the law, maintaining security and order in the border area. This sense of responsibility has contributed to protecting the integrity of territorial sovereignty , ensuring that spring arrives in every highland village with complete joy and peace.

At Chieng Son Border Guard Post, the atmosphere in the final days of the year is equally bustling as officers and soldiers are busy preparing for the "Border Guard Spring - Warming the Hearts of the People" program. From reviewing lists and preparing Tet gifts to coordinating charitable units, everything is geared towards the common goal of caring for the people in the border region. The program was held in Kho Hong village, Chieng Son border commune, distributing over 700 gifts to poor households and families entitled to preferential policies; at the same time, free medical examinations and medicine distribution were organized for the people with the participation of doctors from the Central Lung Institute.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Dinh Van Quang, Commander of the Chieng Son Border Guard Station, this is the 11th consecutive year the unit has maintained and organized the "Border Guard Spring - Warming the Hearts of the Local People" program. "Through practical actions every Tet holiday, the bond between the military and the people is strengthened, encouraging the people to enhance their sense of responsibility and voluntarily stand side-by-side with the border guards in the cause of protecting national sovereignty and border security," Lieutenant Colonel Dinh Van Quang emphasized.

During this year's Tet holiday, the Son La Provincial Border Guard Command coordinated the organization of 11 "Spring at the Border - Warming the Hearts of the People" programs at 10 border guard posts, distributing thousands of Tet gifts worth over 6 billion VND in total, along with many meaningful social welfare activities such as medical examinations and treatment, house donations, and livelihood support for people in border areas.
Commenting on the significance of the series of activities to care for the people during Tet (Lunar New Year), Colonel Vu Duc Tu, Deputy Political Commissar of the Son La Provincial Border Guard, said: “Every Tet holiday, we always ponder how to ensure that the people of ethnic minorities in the border areas can celebrate Tet fully. These gifts are an expression of affection and gratitude from officers and soldiers to the people; thereby contributing to strengthening the solidarity between the military and the people, and building a peaceful and friendly border.”
Caring for the people in border areas during Tet (Lunar New Year) is not only an activity with profound humanitarian significance, but also a bridge extending the social welfare policies of the Party and State to the most remote villages. Each gift given is a thread that connects the people, strengthening the "people's support," so that when spring arrives, the people's trust and love for the soldiers in green uniforms will become even stronger, working together to maintain peace on the nation's border.
