With the Lunar New Year of the Snake 2025 fast approaching, the market is becoming vibrant to meet people's shopping needs. Notably, this year, Vietnamese products dominate the market, boasting diverse designs, attractive styles, and increasingly improved quality, making them the preferred choice for many consumers.

Diverse designs and types

These days, the Tet holiday atmosphere is becoming evident everywhere, on the shelves of markets, supermarkets, convenience stores, and grocery stores... from urban to rural areas. Merchants are meticulously preparing goods to meet Tet consumer needs, neatly and attractively decorated, ready for a bustling Tet season. This year, Vietnamese goods are widely available, with many price segments for people to choose from.

Contributing to the festive shopping atmosphere of the Lunar New Year 2025, Go Viet Tri supermarket has prepared a supply of goods for the Tet holiday that is approximately 10% higher than the same period last year across all product categories. In particular, the supermarket system has collaborated with suppliers nationwide to ensure delivery throughout the Tet holiday, guaranteeing a sufficient supply of goods both before and after Tet, including fresh food items.

Ms. Le Thi Thu Trang – Director of Go Viet Tri Supermarket, said: Currently, the Go! supermarket system has about 45,000 product codes, of which the proportion of Vietnamese goods accounts for over 90%. To serve the consumer needs of people during the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake 2025, in addition to essential consumer goods, the supermarket also introduces to consumers many typical Vietnamese Tet dishes such as: Banh chung (sticky rice cake), banh pia (mooncake), sausage, gio lua (pork sausage)...

In addition, since the beginning of December in the lunar calendar, the supermarket has launched the "Vietnamese Specialties for Vietnamese Tet" program, featuring a range of regional specialties such as smoked buffalo meat, dried bamboo shoots from the Northwest, various types of specialty rice, pomelo, coconut candy, shrimp crackers, etc., offered at discounted prices to stimulate consumption of Vietnamese goods.

Besides preparing a plentiful supply of goods and implementing programs to connect and promote the consumption of Vietnamese products, the supermarket also applies a "price lock, no price increase during Tet" program for fast-moving consumer goods. Thus, for six weeks before Tet, the supermarket commits to keeping prices fixed as listed for these items.

Currently, Vietnamese goods are not only widely available in modern retail channels, but also in markets, agencies, and grocery stores in rural areas, where supplies are quite abundant. From early morning, Thang Chuyen grocery store in Zone 2A, Tan Phu town, Tan Son district, one of the district's price-stabilized goods outlets, was already crowded with customers. Ms. Le Thi Chuyen, the owner of the grocery store, said: "Previously, people in rural areas often chose to buy processed goods, paying little attention to expiration dates, origins, and manufacturer addresses. Now, most consumers are aware of the risks to hygiene and health from using unregulated goods on the market and are opting for domestically produced Vietnamese products from reputable brands, especially food, groceries, and essential consumer goods."

Commenting on the changes in Vietnamese goods, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Viet – Head of the Economic and Infrastructure Department of Tan Son District – said that in recent years, Vietnamese goods have had attractive designs, guaranteed quality, and most importantly, reasonable prices. These are the most practical advantages of Vietnamese goods, in the context of a still challenging economy where people's incomes have improved but not significantly. Buying reasonably priced Vietnamese goods will help consumers save costs and reduce stress and anxiety during the Tet holiday. Furthermore, in recent times, domestic businesses have focused on investing in production lines, improving product quality, investing in attractive packaging and branding, and strictly adhering to food safety regulations to reassure consumers.

Include Vietnamese products in Tet gift baskets.

As Tet (Lunar New Year) approaches, consumer spending tends to increase, especially on weekends. Many customers, instead of buying individual items, are opting for Tet gift baskets containing Vietnamese products such as nuts, health food, and agricultural produce, combined with decorative accessories to create a sophisticated and modern presentation.

At Green Food Cooperative in Gia Cam Ward, Viet Tri City, despite being established only at the end of 2024, the cooperative's OCOP (One Commune One Product) product stall has attracted considerable customer attention during this year's Tet holiday. This is due to the unique characteristic of the stall: the products on display are primarily OCOP products, agricultural products, and regional specialties from within and outside the province.

At this time, the cooperative's shelves are overflowing with agricultural products for Tet (Lunar New Year). Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Anh, Deputy Director of Green Food Cooperative, said: "This is the first year the cooperative has launched unique OCOP (One Commune One Product) Tet gift sets and gift baskets, imbued with the flavors of the ancestral land. Customers can order baskets based on criteria such as purpose, items, and value. Each Tet gift basket includes 5-10 OCOP products and a combination of cakes and candies. All products have complete certification documents, ensuring food safety and hygiene and clear traceability. Based on customer requirements, the cooperative will harmoniously combine the products in the gift basket with safe and environmentally friendly decorative accessories. Each OCOP gift basket is priced from 200,000 VND to 1.5 million VND."

OCOP Tet gift baskets at Green Food Cooperative, Gia Cam ward, Viet Tri city are in high demand during Tet.

Ms. Luong Thi Ngoc from Minh Phuong ward, Viet Tri city, said: "This year, I chose Tet gift baskets made of woven bamboo and rattan with typical products of the province such as tea, fermented pork, bamboo shoots, vermicelli... These gift baskets mainly contain food with the traditional flavors of Tet, which are both familiar and practical."

Including Vietnamese products in general, and OCOP products in particular, in Tet gift baskets has contributed to increasing the competitiveness of Vietnamese goods and expanding their markets. At the same time, this is an effective way to commercialize products, increase economic value, and affirm the position of domestic products in the market.

To ensure an abundant and high-quality supply of goods during the Lunar New Year holiday, authorities in the province are intensifying market inspections and monitoring regarding business conditions, invoices, documents, origin, labeling, standards, and quality of goods. The focus is on high-demand consumer goods during Tet, such as food, beverages, etc.; simultaneously, through these efforts, they are promoting public awareness campaigns to encourage people to participate in the "Vietnamese People Prioritize Using Vietnamese Goods" movement.
