On June 29th, the Mobile Forest Protection and Fire Prevention Team No. 1 of the Tay Ninh Forest Protection Department announced that they had coordinated with the Department of Economy, Infrastructure and Urban Development of Duong Minh Chau commune, the Duong Minh Chau commune police, and other relevant units to receive and release a Javan pangolin back into its natural environment.

Previously, on June 6, 2026, Mr. TMC (residing in Hamlet 4, Duong Minh Chau Commune) discovered a Javan pangolin in his family's farmland. Recognizing that this was a protected wild animal, he proactively reported the sighting and voluntarily handed it over to the authorities.

After receiving the animal, Mobile Forest Ranger and Forest Fire Prevention and Fighting Team No. 1, in coordination with the Duong Minh Chau Commune Police, conducted a health check of the animal and advised the Commune People's Committee to complete all necessary procedures before releasing it back into the wild.

The Javan pangolin is a wild animal listed in the Category of Endangered, Rare, and Precious Forest Animals issued with Government Decree No. 06/2019/ND-CP, amended and supplemented by Decree No. 84/2021/ND-CP. Currently, this species is facing a serious threat of population decline due to the complex situation of illegal hunting, transportation, trade, and consumption.
