At the groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of the Chu Lai Truong Hai Automotive Mechanical Industrial Park (Nui Thanh commune, Da Nang city) on August 28th, THACO Deputy General Director Nguyen Hoang Tue emphasized that, in the context of the reshaping of global supply chains, Vietnam's mechanical and supporting industries have many opportunities to assert their role in the world's production network.

THACO Deputy General Director Nguyen Hoang Tue speaks at the groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of the Chu Lai Truong Hai Automotive Mechanical Industrial Park on August 28th.

With a strategic vision spanning over 20 years, THACO has built a solid foundation in the field of mechanical engineering and supporting industries, establishing the THACO Chu Lai Industrial Park (Quang Nam, now Da Nang City) specializing in large-scale, concentrated production with regional significance, operated by THACO INDUSTRIES.

This industrial park comprises an R&D center, a mechanical processing center, and factories producing components and spare parts; operating on an "all-in-one" model, with a value chain encompassing: Business - Research & Development (R&D) - Production - Construction and Installation, Operation and Maintenance, providing a diverse range of products and integrated, comprehensive solutions for various industries. Many of THACO INDUSTRIES' products have been exported to over 20 countries, affirming its position in the international market.

In this new phase of development, THACO continues to invest in and establish a regional-scale automotive parts and components manufacturing center; simultaneously expanding its machinery and equipment manufacturing and mechanical processing center. All operations at the center follow a closed-loop process from product design, material research - manufacturing, production, assembly - quality control to packaging and transportation, meeting international standards and the specific requirements of customers.

"In particular, with the railway industry – a sector prioritized for investment and development by the Government – THACO identifies this as an opportunity to contribute to national transportation infrastructure, while affirming its pioneering position in the mechanical engineering and supporting industries in Vietnam," Mr. Nguyen Hoang Tue emphasized.

Previously, in May 2025, THACO's leadership sent a letter to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, proposing to participate in investing in the North-South high-speed railway project with a commitment to mastering the technology and developing Vietnam's railway industry.

According to the proposal, THACO will invest approximately $61.35 billion in the project, of which 20% will be equity and legally raised domestic capital, equivalent to $12.27 billion; the remaining 80%, nearly $49.08 billion, will be borrowed from domestic and foreign credit institutions. THACO requests the Government to guarantee this loan and subsidize interest payments for 30 years.

THACO is phasing its investment over 7 years, prioritizing the high-passenger sections first. Phase 1, from Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang and from Hanoi to Ha Tinh, will be completed in 5 years. Phase 2, from Ha Tinh to Nha Trang, will be constructed in 2 years. The company affirms that it will not transfer the project, capital contributions, or shares to foreign investors in order to ensure national security, safety, and technological sovereignty.

A key feature of THACO's proposal is its focus on creating and developing the domestic railway industry, metallurgy, mechanical engineering, digital industry, and other foundational sectors for the sustainable and self-reliant development of the country.

With its mechanical engineering base at THACO Chu Lai Industrial Park, THACO INDUSTRIES will collaborate with domestic businesses to receive technology transfer and manufacture locomotives, carriages, operating equipment, etc. Simultaneously, it will develop new supporting mechanical engineering industrial parks in Binh Duong and Bac Ninh.
