Sirigesanong Trirattanasongpol, Managing Director of East Asia Markets at the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), stated that Thailand's inflation rate is low and domestic prices have not surged. He believes that tourists' perception of high prices may be due to the impact of exchange rates.
Citing data from Thailand's Ministry of Commerce, the country's overall inflation in January was negative, marking the tenth consecutive month of decline, mainly due to falling energy prices.
In 2025, this Southeast Asian nation is expected to welcome 32.9 million international tourists, including 1.55 million South Korean visitors. The Thai government aims to attract around 36 million tourists this year.

However, the appreciating baht is putting pressure on the tourism industry. Since the beginning of the year, the currency has appreciated by about 1% against the USD, after a projected 9% increase in 2025, raising concerns about the destination's competitiveness.
Vachirachai Sirisumpan, another TAT official, said the agency will launch a promotional campaign focusing on the message of “healing mind, body, and spirit,” targeting South Korean tourists who are under high work pressure.
Security concerns persist following the abduction of actor Wang Xing near the Thailand-Myanmar border last year, an incident that affected the morale of some tourists, particularly Chinese visitors.
Following the incident, Bangkok launched the “Trusted Thailand” certification system for hotels, restaurants, and entertainment venues, aiming to reinforce trust and promote Thailand as a safe and friendly destination.
