Last night (August 15th), the host team, Ho Chi Minh City Police, secured a thrilling 3-2 victory against Visakha Club from Cambodia in the semi-finals of the 2024 Ho Chi Minh City Police Open Volleyball Tournament - Ho Chi Minh City Police Newspaper Cup.

With a better start and the support of a large crowd, the host team, Ho Chi Minh City Police, won the first set 25/17. The invited team, Visakha, also played confidently, winning the second set 25/22 to level the score at 1-1. The team from Cambodia then staged a comeback in the third set, surprisingly winning 26/24 to take a 2-1 lead.
With no other options left, despite facing numerous difficulties, especially the declining physical condition of their veteran players, the Ho Chi Minh City Police volleyball team, with high determination, managed to equalize the score at 2-2 and then narrowly win 15-13 against Visakha Club in the decisive fifth set to secure their place in the final.

The Ho Chi Minh City Police team's opponent in the final is the Ho Chi Minh City Volleyball Club. This team also had a hard-fought 3-1 victory against Ben Tre in the other semi-final match. With impressive form, the Ben Tre players unexpectedly won the first set, but timely adjustments by coach Huynh Van Tuan, along with the outstanding performances of Thoai Khuong, Viet Nhan, Minh Hieu, and Che Quoc Vo Lit, helped the Ho Chi Minh City Club come back to win.

At 8 PM today, the closing ceremony of the 2024 Ho Chi Minh City Police Open Volleyball Tournament will take place at Tan Binh Gymnasium (Ho Chi Minh City). Immediately following the closing ceremony will be the final match between the Ho Chi Minh City Police team and the Ho Chi Minh City Club. All matches in the tournament are free of charge, open to the public. The final will be broadcast live on VTV9. The winning team will receive a prize of 60 million VND, while the runner-up will receive 40 million VND.
