Illuminate the principle of gratitude.

Throughout the wars to defend the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, Thanh Thuy district has 1,163 families of martyrs, 71 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, 1 pre-revolutionary cadre, 1 Hero of the People's Armed Forces, and more than 800 wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, and resistance fighters exposed to chemical toxins, and over 2,000 people who were awarded medals and decorations for their contributions to the resistance movement.

Every year, the leaders of Thanh Thuy district promptly visit and encourage policy beneficiary families in the area during holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year).

Over the years, the Party committees, government at all levels, and all sectors of the people in Thanh Thuy district have consistently demonstrated the traditional principle of "drinking water, remembering the source," showing boundless responsibility and gratitude towards those who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the nation through concrete and practical actions. Thanh Thuy district regularly disseminates the preferential policies of the Party and State on war invalids and martyrs to all sectors of the population.

Annually, the District People's Committee directs the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to guide communes and towns in reviewing the eligibility of beneficiaries for various benefits such as: long-term rehabilitation, orthopedic assistance, educational allowances for children of war invalids and martyrs, annual allowances for those who worship martyrs, and allowances for visiting and giving gifts during holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year)... The review is carried out accurately and completely, ensuring no beneficiaries are missed. From January 2024, monthly allowances for war invalids and their relatives will be paid through two methods: cash or via bank account.

As of June 2024, the district had implemented a comprehensive program across 11 communes and towns to open accounts for recipients of monthly allowances. 394 accounts were opened out of a total of 1,386 recipients, achieving 28.4%. The processing of funeral expenses and one-time allowances for relatives of war veterans and martyrs was carried out promptly and in accordance with regulations. The increase in monthly allowances, one-time allowances, and other benefits under Decree No. 55/2023/ND-CP amending and supplementing Decree No. 75/2021/ND-CP has fostered trust among war veterans and martyrs in the Party and State's guidelines, policies, and strategies.

The maintenance of martyrs' graves has been carried out regularly. From 2021 to the present, the district has renovated and upgraded 3 memorial sites for martyrs with a total cost of over 2.2 billion VND. In addition, Thanh Thuy district has promoted charitable movements and mobilized contributions to the "Gratitude and Repayment" fund. In 2023, the district and communes mobilized over 400 million VND to contribute to the "Gratitude and Repayment" fund. From this fund, the district has supported the construction, beautification, and planting of trees in the cemetery grounds and the Martyrs' Memorial; and provided financial support for the construction of martyrs' graves according to regulations.

Youth union members in the district always show concern for and participate in "Gratitude and Remembrance" activities, including taking responsibility for caring for the graves of martyrs.

In addition, the district always prioritizes and creates favorable conditions to support policy beneficiary families and those who contributed to the revolution in developing their economy, such as: preferential loans for production development from the district's Social Policy Bank; priority in land allocation in concentrated production areas; priority in selecting and implementing production models with support in seeds, capital, science and technology... As a result, policy beneficiary families and those who contributed to the revolution in the area have all achieved a living standard ranging from average to above average.

Comrade Nguyen Thi Vinh - Deputy Head of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Thanh Thuy district, said: "During this 'July Month of Gratitude,' the communes and towns in the district have mobilized officials, members, and union members to clean, renovate, and repair memorials for martyrs; and intensified propaganda on mass media about exemplary individuals who have contributed to the revolution, aiming to help all levels of the people understand the revolutionary historical traditions and the contributions of heroic martyrs and war invalids in the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland."

In particular, the district implemented plans and organized many delegations to visit and present gifts to families of policy beneficiaries on the occasion of the Commemoration Day of War Invalids and Martyrs on July 27th. Functional units fully and seriously implemented the contents of the Decree on preferential treatment for people who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution...

The efforts demonstrating responsibility and affection from the Party Committee, government, and people of Thanh Thuy district in the past have contributed to motivating war invalids, policy beneficiary families, and those who contributed to the revolution to continue upholding the revolutionary traditions of their homeland and families; setting an example in overcoming difficulties to develop their family economy, actively participating in local movements and activities, and working together to build an increasingly prosperous and beautiful homeland.
