At the end of March 2026, residents of Thong Nhat village (Than Khe commune) were delighted when the 1.5km long road in their village officially received a solar-powered lighting system. The project, consisting of 22 streetlights, was installed using funds raised through social mobilization by the commune's Youth Union.
Since the installation of the streetlights, people's travel has become more convenient and safer, especially at night. Mr. Hoang Van Diet, Secretary of the Thong Nhat Village Party Branch, said: "Previously, many sections of the village lacked lighting, making nighttime travel difficult for residents. Since the streetlights were installed, security and order have improved, and the risk of traffic accidents has significantly decreased. The villagers are very happy because the rural landscape is becoming brighter, more beautiful, and more civilized."

Than Khe is one of the localities that has effectively implemented the "Lighting Up Rural Roads" program. From the beginning of 2026 to the present, the Youth Union of the commune has carried out 5 projects with a total length of nearly 9.5km, installing 91 solar-powered streetlights, with a total cost of nearly 120 million VND.
Mr. Bui Quang Tao, Secretary of the Youth Union of Than Khe commune, shared: "To implement the projects, the commune's Youth Union proactively surveyed roads lacking lighting, mobilized social resources, and promoted the pioneering role of union members and young people. Thanks to its practical effectiveness, the program has received the consensus and support of the people and the children of the homeland."
Not only in Than Khe, the "Lighting Up Rural Roads" movement is being widely implemented by Youth Union branches at all levels in the province through many creative methods, suitable to the actual conditions of each locality.
As an active partner supporting local youth in implementing youth projects, from December 2025 to the present, the Youth Union of Hung Yen Power Company has implemented 7 "Lighting Up Rural Roads" projects in various communes across the province with a total value of over 361 million VND. Of these, 6 projects utilize the power grid system with a total power line length of nearly 5.9km, installing 210 50W LED streetlights; and 1 project uses 35 solar-powered streetlights.
According to Dao Duy Dan, Secretary of the Youth Union of Hung Yen Power Company: "All projects are thoroughly surveyed before implementation to ensure quality, efficiency, and suitability to the actual needs of the people. In the future, the Company's Youth Union will continue to coordinate with localities to implement more new projects, contributing to improving the quality of life for people and jointly building new rural areas."

The "Lighting Up Rural Roads" program is one of the exemplary youth projects that the youth of Hung Yen province have consistently implemented over the years. Responding to the movement, the Youth Union at all levels has actively mobilized social resources and enlisted its members and young people to participate in surveying, designing, installing, and managing the projects after completion. Just since the beginning of this year, the Youth Union at all levels in the province has implemented dozens of "Lighting Up Rural Roads" youth projects, each with a length of 1-2 km. All projects meet technical and aesthetic requirements, save energy, and are suitable for the local conditions.
Besides bringing light to rural roads, the program also contributes to raising people's awareness in working together to build a civilized and modern living environment. After completion, many roads continue to be maintained by local Youth Unions in terms of environmental hygiene and traffic safety according to the criteria of "bright - green - clean - beautiful - safe".
Beyond simply illuminating rural roads, the "Lighting Up the Countryside" program also contributes to raising community awareness and building a civilized and safe living environment. In the future, youth union branches at all levels in the province will continue to mobilize social resources to expand the model, contributing to building increasingly brighter, greener, cleaner, more beautiful, and more livable rural areas in Hung Yen.
