Volunteers participate in blood donation, contributing to saving the lives of patients.
The 2021-2026 term marked outstanding achievements in humanitarian work in the province. The total value of assistance activities reached 762.9 billion VND, supporting over 1.26 million people, a 2.3-fold increase compared to the previous term. These figures not only reflect the effectiveness of humanitarian work but also demonstrate the strength of solidarity and the joint efforts of all levels of government, sectors, businesses, philanthropists, and the general public.
A highlight is the "Compassionate Tet" movement, implemented synchronously from the provincial level to the grassroots. Practical gifts are given to poor and near-poor households, people with disabilities, families receiving preferential treatment, and victims of Agent Orange, helping them alleviate their difficulties. Beyond just giving gifts, many innovative models such as "Compassionate Tet Market," "Spring Festival Fair," and "Free Stalls" are organized in many localities, bringing a warm and compassionate atmosphere each spring. People receive gifts, free medical check-ups and treatment, and participate in folk games, creating truly humanitarian festivals. From there, the "Compassionate Tet" movement has become a widespread social activity, contributing to spreading humanitarian values and a sense of responsibility towards the community.
The campaign "Each organization, each individual is linked to a humanitarian cause" continues to yield practical results. The various levels of the Association have reviewed, compiled records, and updated 4,861 humanitarian causes on the Charity application, creating favorable conditions for organizations and individuals to connect and support the right beneficiaries. Many disadvantaged individuals have received support ranging from 20 to 60 million VND each to overcome adversity and stabilize their lives.
While gifts help alleviate immediate burdens for those in need, the "Humanitarian House" model provides long-term housing opportunities for many families. Over the past five years, Red Cross societies at all levels have mobilized resources to build 813 humanitarian houses with a total cost of over 74.5 billion VND. Hundreds of poor households and those with particularly difficult circumstances have been able to live in sturdy, safe homes.
The annual Humanitarian Month has become a peak period for nationwide charitable work. From heartfelt gifts, scholarships, and bicycles for poor students to free medical examinations and treatment programs, building humanitarian houses, and supporting livelihoods, all have created a widespread impact. In particular, the "Cattle Bank" program has demonstrated the effectiveness of a sustainable livelihood support model. Breeding cows and breeding cattle have been given to poor households, households with victims of Agent Orange, and people with disabilities, helping them develop their economy and gradually escape poverty through this practical source of livelihood.
One of the most impactful movements is voluntary blood donation. During the term, the entire province received more than 216,000 units of blood, basically meeting the treatment needs of hospitals. In 2025 alone, more than 40,000 volunteers registered to donate blood, resulting in the collection of 39,284 units. A prime example of this movement is Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hung, Chairman of the Hoa Binh Living Blood Bank Club, who has donated blood 46 times and actively encouraged thousands of people to participate in blood donation and register for humanitarian organ and tissue donation. Mr. Hung shared: "Members of the club are always ready to donate blood when needed, even at night, on weekends, or during holidays, contributing to saving the lives of many patients in critical situations."
Through these practical actions, the flame of love continues to be kindled and spread widely, reviving the nation's tradition of "mutual support and compassion," contributing to building a more prosperous, civilized, humane, and sustainably developed homeland.
