A meaningful gift
Standing at the threshold of university, the cost of attending school is a huge burden for poor families. This scholarship is truly a meaningful and practical gift, helping students from disadvantaged backgrounds feel more secure on their path to acquiring knowledge.
At the scholarship award ceremony last September, Doan Thu Huyen, a former student of Ham Yen High School, emotionally shared her story. Huyen passed the entrance exam to Hanoi University of Pharmacy, but her family consists only of her elderly grandparents (her parents divorced and left when she was only 2 years old), while the cost of university education is too high. Upon receiving the scholarship, she expressed her sincere gratitude to the provincial leaders, the leaders of the Department of Education and Training, and the company, promising to study hard to become a useful member of society in the future.
Ms. Thi Thu Hien, a first-year student at Hanoi Pedagogical University 2, residing in Son Vi border commune and belonging to a poor household, said: “I was very worried when I started university. At the most difficult time, I received a scholarship from Ha Giang Mechanical and Mineral Joint Stock Company for all four years of my studies, totaling 120 million VND. This is truly a huge and meaningful gift that will help me overcome difficulties in life and studies.”
This concern also touched the hearts of the parents. Ms. Sung Thi Chang, a Mong ethnic woman from Lung Tam commune, mother of Huong Thi Siem (one of the 27 students who received scholarships), could not hide her emotion: “My family is extremely grateful for the concern of the provincial leaders, especially the Ha Giang Mechanical and Mineral Joint Stock Company, for their kind support to poor households and students with particularly difficult circumstances.”

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Do Khac Hung, Director of Ha Giang Mechanical and Mineral Joint Stock Company , affirmed: “With the responsibility of a business, the company has always paid attention to social welfare activities. By awarding scholarships this time, the company hopes to help students with particularly difficult circumstances become more confident in life and studies, strive to achieve their dream of attending university so that they can have a stable career later, and contribute to building a more prosperous and beautiful Tuyen Quang homeland.”
Comrade Phan Huy Ngoc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, highly appreciated the contributions of Ha Giang Mechanical and Mineral Joint Stock Company in the past period.
