The Cong Viettel recruits V-League top scorer.

TPO - Brazilian striker Lucas Vinicius (Lucao do Break) will play for The Cong Viettel from the 2025/26 season.

On June 24th, ahead of the National Cup semi-final match, The Cong Viettel officially announced the successful signing of striker Lucao. The Brazilian forward has spent nearly five years playing in the V-League for Hanoi FC, Da Nang FC, and most recently, Hai Phong FC.

Standing at 1.84m tall and possessing an ideal physique, the striker born in 1991 has excellent physical strength, aerial ability, and diverse finishing skills within the penalty area. In the 2024/25 season, Lucao was one of the top three scorers in the LPbank V-League with 14 goals – contributing 48% of Hai Phong Club's total goals (29 goals).

Viettel Sports needs to strengthen its attack for the upcoming season.

Sharing his thoughts on the day of signing the contract, Lucao said: “I am very honored to wear the jersey of a club with such a rich tradition as The Cong Viettel. This is a team with a strong fighting spirit, a desire to win, and always receives enthusiastic support from the fans. I am here to give my all, score goals, and most importantly, to conquer titles with the whole team.”

Meanwhile, coach Velizar Popov stated that Lucao is the missing piece the military team has been waiting for: a striker with good finishing ability. At the end of the LPbank V-League 2024/25 season, The Cong Viettel finished only 4th, failing to achieve their set goals.

This is also the reason why coach Nguyen Duc Thang left, paving the way for Mr. Popov to take over the coaching of the military team.
