Practical benefits
FuHong Precision Component Vietnam Co., Ltd. (abbreviated as FuHong Company) is a foreign-invested enterprise specializing in the production of electronic components, operating in the Dinh Tram and Quang Chau Industrial Parks since 2008. To proactively secure a stable energy source for production and reduce electricity costs, since 2023, FuHong Company has invested in an 8.13 MWp rooftop solar power system, operating on a self-production-self-consumption model (not feeding electricity into the grid). From the planning stage, the company has focused on safety in design and construction, as well as operation and maintenance. Accordingly, the company uses internationally standardized equipment; strictly adheres to labor safety and fire prevention regulations; conducts periodic inspections to ensure maximum efficiency and system safety; uses online monitoring software to detect early warnings; and increases the frequency of solar panel cleaning during the dry season and reduces it during the rainy season to save costs. Mr. Tran Van Son, Technical Director of FuHong Company, informed: “The company's rooftop solar power system provides an average of 8 million kWh per year, helping to reduce emissions by approximately 6.76 thousand tons of CO₂/year, contributing to the company's Net Zero 2040 goal and Vietnam's Net Zero 2050 goal.”

According to information gathered from Luxshare - ITC Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Luxshare - ITC Company) in Quang Chau Industrial Park, the company has installed a rooftop solar power system with a total capacity of over 11.4 MWp, supplying an average of over 12.31 million kWh of electricity per year. This saves the company approximately 30 billion VND annually. Luxshare - ITC Company is a major partner of Apple Corporation. Apple's goal is to reduce carbon emissions in its supply chain by 100% by 2030. The corporation has encouraged its partners, including Luxshare - ITC Company, to transition to and utilize renewable energy in production. This helps Luxshare not only meet the requirements of a major partner like Apple but also enhance its image, reduce operating costs in the long term, and comply with increasingly stringent environmental protection regulations.
| As of early December 2025, Bac Ninh province had 215 businesses registered to install rooftop solar power systems, with a total capacity of 454 MWp. Of these, more than 150 businesses had already installed systems with a total capacity of approximately 185 MWp. The province aims to complete the target of installing rooftop solar power systems with a total capacity of 3,390 MWp in 2026. |
At Yonz Technology Vietnam Investment Co., Ltd. (Yen Lu Industrial Park), on September 4, 2025, the company invested $3 million to install over 100,000 square meters of solar panels (covering more than 90% of the company's factory roof area) with a total capacity of over 10.5 MWp. The company aims to complete and put the system into operation by early January 2026.
According to statistics, the province has over 1,200 customers installing rooftop solar power, with a total capacity of approximately 195 MWp. Of these, about 150 businesses have installed rooftop solar power, with a total capacity of approximately 185 MWp. Mr. Nguyen Minh Hieu, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, affirmed: Developing renewable energy, including rooftop solar power, is an inevitable trend, consistent with the national orientation on energy transition and the Net Zero commitment by 2050. For a rapidly developing industrial province like Bac Ninh, ensuring energy security, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and optimizing production costs for businesses are crucial tasks. The "self-production, self-consumption" model helps businesses proactively secure their supply, reduce the burden on the national power grid, and demonstrate social responsibility in environmental protection.
Unlocking potential
Current reality shows that rooftop solar power is a superior solution, offering many benefits such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions, protecting the environment; helping businesses obtain renewable energy certifications, and increasing their competitive advantage when exporting. The investment cost is approximately 8.4-10.51 million VND/kWp (excluding electricity storage equipment), each installed kWp generates nearly 1,000 kWh/year, and the expected payback period is no more than 5 years.

According to the revised Power Development Plan VIII, Bac Ninh province has been assigned a target of developing over 3,390 MW of rooftop solar power by 2035. If this target is achieved, the province will have nearly 4 billion kWh annually, equivalent to approximately 8 trillion VND, contributing nearly 2% to the province's economy and creating a significant impetus for economic growth. During the 2021-2030 period, Bac Ninh plans to establish 50 industrial parks and 96 industrial clusters, totaling 18,800 hectares. Currently, 35 industrial parks and 64 industrial clusters have been established, covering a total area of 12,200 hectares, with 6,800 hectares of factory rooftops already in operation. With 1,500-1,700 hours of sunshine per year, Bac Ninh has great potential to realize its renewable energy development goals. In August 2025, the Provincial People's Committee issued an open letter calling on agencies, units, localities, organizations, businesses, and individuals to actively research, invest in, and install rooftop solar power systems at existing buildings and new projects.
In the context of ever-increasing energy demand, proactively securing a clean, stable, and affordable power supply is crucial for ensuring production and business, enhancing competitiveness, and contributing to environmental protection. However, during implementation, several obstacles remain regarding policy mechanisms, technical standards, fire prevention and control, and access to capital. The Provincial People's Committee has proposed numerous solutions, notably inviting experts from the Electricity Department ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ); representatives from many experienced businesses in the field of new and renewable energy; commercial banks; and credit institutions... to provide guidance on the implementation of legal documents, mechanisms, and state policies related to the development orientation of rooftop solar power and investment credit solutions. The Department of Industry and Trade has advised the Provincial People's Committee to develop a plan for the development of rooftop solar power in the province for the period 2025-2035. The plan aims to create a clear and transparent legal framework and support mechanism to maximize the mobilization of social resources, simplify administrative procedures, and create favorable conditions for people and businesses to participate in investment.
According to Mr. Pham Van Thinh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Bac Ninh province is committed to creating the most favorable and expeditious conditions for rooftop solar power projects. The province requires the Department of Industry and Trade – the permanent coordinating agency – to take the lead and closely cooperate with relevant departments and agencies to proactively guide and promptly resolve any obstacles, shortening the time required to process administrative procedures for businesses wishing to install rooftop solar power. He also requested commercial banks in the province to research, design, and implement preferential credit programs for rooftop solar power projects.
In early December 2025, the Provincial People's Committee issued a document announcing the target and incentives for businesses to invest in installing rooftop solar power for self-production and self-consumption in the first phase, with 215 businesses registering to install a total capacity of 454 MWp. This is a positive sign showing that achieving the target of developing over 3,390 MW of rooftop solar power capacity in 2026 (exceeding the plan assigned by the Government) is entirely feasible, making Bac Ninh a leading locality nationwide in renewable energy development.
