More classrooms, more fun!

Two classrooms at Tho Son Kindergarten (Van Thanh branch), Hon Dat commune, have recently been started construction, contributing to improving teaching and learning conditions for children in the coastal area.

According to To Van Dan, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations, the Van Thanh branch of Tho Son Kindergarten is located in a disadvantaged area with a large geographical area, about 5km from the main school. Parents face many difficulties in transporting their children to and from school every day. The branch only has two classrooms for 5-year-olds, which are in poor condition, and there are no classrooms for children aged 3-4. Therefore, the implementation of the universal preschool education program for children aged 3-5 in the locality still faces many limitations.

Based on the local needs, the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam-Switzerland Friendship Association of the province surveyed the existing facilities at Van Thanh school. The survey revealed that building additional classrooms was essential to meet the educational needs of children in the area. Therefore, the Associazione ACTI Espérance organization sponsored the construction of two new classrooms, totaling over 1 billion VND, on a turnkey basis. The project was completed and handed over fully, without using any matching funds from the local government.

The construction of new classrooms will help address the shortage of classrooms at Van Thanh school, while also creating favorable conditions for the school to effectively implement the preschool education program. The project not only contributes to improving facilities but also carries profound humanitarian significance, helping children in disadvantaged areas have a safer and more convenient learning environment. Mr. To Van Dan shared: “We hope that when the two new classrooms are completed and put into use, they will contribute to solving part of the local classroom shortage, creating favorable conditions for children to attend school at the appropriate age.”

Ms. Dinh Thi Kim Thai, Principal of Tho Son Kindergarten, said that over the years, the school has always received attention from leaders at all levels, support from departments, organizations, sponsors, and parents, thanks to which the care, nurturing, and education of children have been gradually improved. However, due to the increasing demand for learning, the school's facilities still face many difficulties, especially a shortage of classrooms. The construction of two new classrooms will help the school gradually improve its facilities, better meeting the needs of caring for and educating children in the locality. “The school will closely coordinate with the construction unit to ensure the project is completed on schedule and to a high standard. When the facility is put into use, we will maintain and effectively utilize the facilities to best serve the care and education of children,” Ms. Dinh Thi Kim Thai said.

Ms. Thi My Chau, a parent residing in Hon Dat commune, expressed her joy at the school soon having new classrooms: “The teachers have always hoped for their children to study in a safe and spacious environment, and it is a great joy for parents. When the project is completed, the children will have better conditions for learning and living.”

The joint efforts of friendship organizations, sponsors, and local authorities provide further impetus for the school to improve the quality of care and education, contributing to building a brighter future for the younger generation in this disadvantaged region.
