Early this morning, Minh Tam electronics store on Tran Phu Street ( Nam Dinh Ward) opened its doors as technicians transported goods for installation at customers' homes. Mr. Bui Van Lanh, the store owner, said: “This year, the hot weather started early, and since the end of March, demand for air conditioners at our store has increased compared to the same period last year. As a first-tier distributor of Daikin and Panasonic brands, our store sells hundreds of air conditioners and evaporative coolers annually. To prepare for this year's peak hot season, we have stocked up on goods and hired over 20 technicians for installation and maintenance to meet customer demand.”
Responding to market demand, electronics retailers have simultaneously launched "summer promotions" very early. At Dien May Xanh, many air conditioner models from various brands come with long-term warranties, free installation, and regular maintenance. Combining product promotions with after-sales service is becoming a key competitive strategy for retailers. At Dien May Xanh Le Hoan in Phu Ly ward, a wide variety of air conditioning products are imported, featuring inverter technology (energy-saving) from well-known brands such as Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Daikin, and Panasonic. A highlight of this year's air conditioners is the integration of many energy-saving features, air purification, quiet operation, and timer functions. These models not only cool quickly but also save significantly more electricity compared to conventional air conditioners, with prices ranging from 8-13 million VND per unit and capacities from 9,000-12,000 BTU. Importantly, customers who cannot afford to pay 100% upfront can purchase on interest-free installment plans.
Walking around several supermarkets and electronics stores in the province these days, it's easy to see that, although it's not yet peak season, there are already quite a few customers browsing and buying products. Most stores and supermarkets stock a wide variety of goods and product lines to meet customer demand. They also have various promotional programs and attractive offers to stimulate consumer spending, such as direct price reductions on products, free installation, extended product warranties, gift vouchers, and other accompanying products for customers.
Besides air conditioners, other cooling products such as electric fans and evaporative coolers are also widely available in stores, ranging in style, design, and quality, with prices from 300,000 VND to over 1 million VND per unit for electric fans and from 1.5 to 5 million VND per unit for evaporative coolers. Hot and cold water dispensers and refrigerators are also popular choices during the hot season. According to electronics store owners, in recent years, market demand for evaporative coolers has increased significantly due to their many advantages, such as portability, the ability to create a gentle breeze, and rapid cooling without causing the feeling of heat or stuffiness like regular electric fans, while also not causing dry skin like some air conditioners. In the high-end segment, products priced at 10 million VND and above also attract considerable customer interest due to their integration of modern features such as air purification, quiet operation, remote control via smartphone, and flexible timer functions. In recent years, consumer trends in the home appliance sector have shifted significantly. Buyers are not only concerned with price but also prioritize energy efficiency, health protection, and smart features. Many products now incorporate advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) that can sense temperature and humidity, automatically adjust cooling power, and even remember usage habits to optimize the user experience.
Besides traditional sales methods, electronics stores and supermarkets are also actively promoting their products on e-commerce platforms and social media sites like Facebook, Zalo, and TikTok. Through these platforms, consumers can easily choose and compare prices, power capacity, energy consumption, etc., between products before making a decision. In the context of a volatile market, some manufacturers have announced plans to adjust prices in the near future. However, according to retail systems, current prices remain stable due to large inventory levels and a time lag in price adjustments.
This summer is predicted to have several prolonged heatwaves. Many experts recommend that, given the current abundant and diverse market for electrical appliances and refrigeration products, consumers should purchase genuine products from reputable stores and supermarkets. While the price may be higher, the products are guaranteed in terms of origin and quality. Furthermore, consumers should thoroughly research their needs and brands before purchasing to ensure smart, economical, and efficient consumption.
