According to a representative from Saigon Co.op , just one week after launching the "Come to Co.op and bring Tet home" program, the system has attracted nearly 10 million visitors who came to shop and take advantage of the promotions offered in the program.
Beyond promotions, Saigon Co.op also invests in exclusive services and organizes a series of unique events tailored to each locality, offering a novel Tet shopping experience both digitally and in-store.
Notably, this year's Tet market has seen a strong shift from in-person to online shopping.
According to statistics, the number of online orders for this system has tripled compared to normal days. The special appeal comes from the significant discounts offered on over 3,500 Tet holiday products, with savings of 50% or more.
Similarly, at the MM Mega Market system, purchasing power is proceeding as predicted, with a planned increase in Tet holiday goods supply of approximately 10-15% compared to the same period last year, and 20-25% compared to normal days, focusing on essential consumer goods.
With rapidly increasing purchasing power, this system also dedicates space to traditional Tet (Lunar New Year) items, including fresh produce, confectionery, pickled vegetables, and home decorations such as couplets, red envelopes, and lanterns, in eye-catching locations.
Mr. Nguyen Tuan, Deputy General Director of Satra, said that the period after the Lunar New Year is also the peak time for Tet holiday business.
To date, the corporation, together with its member companies and partners, has prepared a supply of goods to stabilize the market for the Tet holiday month, totaling approximately 3,550 tons, a 10% increase compared to the same month last year, corresponding to a capital investment of nearly 500 billion VND.
During the Lunar New Year holiday, the corporation intensified its inspections of frequently consumed goods such as meat, meat products, eggs, seafood, vegetables, fruits, and confectionery.
According to supermarkets, this year's trend of celebrating Tet in a simpler way and prioritizing rest and enjoyment has boosted demand for ready-to-eat products.
Food businesses have seized this trend and invested in convenient products that cater to consumer tastes. This is also a product category currently enjoying strong sales, alongside Tet gift baskets.
A representative from Saigon Food stated that this year, for the first time, the company is introducing a line of premium pizzas and gratins imported directly from Japan. These dishes are designed for convenience and speed while still ensuring nutrition and fresh, delicious flavors.
In addition, the company also launched spice combos. Regarding prices, apart from the slight increase in pork prices, some supermarkets said they are still making efforts to stabilize prices of essential goods.
Items like coffee and tea tend to see slight price increases, so supermarkets are working hard with suppliers to ensure reasonable price hikes.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade has requested supermarket and convenience store chains to increase staffing and extend operating hours to ensure the supply of goods in the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), preventing empty shelves and avoiding customer congestion during Tet shopping.
