During the peak shopping season, the supply of motorcycles on the market is quite abundant, as evidenced by the sharp increase in production output. According to the General Statistics Office, in December 2025, domestic businesses are estimated to have produced approximately 340,600 new motorcycles, an increase of 5.9% compared to the previous month and a 4.5% increase compared to December 2024. This is the month with the highest production volume in 2025. According to the Vietnam Motorcycle Manufacturers Association (5 members: Honda, Yamaha, Piaggio, Suzuki, SYM), motorcycle sales in the fourth quarter of 2025 are projected at 709,034 units, an increase of more than 14% compared to the third quarter of 2025.
According to observations at several motorcycle dealerships in Can Tho City, the period leading up to the Lunar New Year sees a high demand for motorcycles. Recognizing this, businesses and dealerships are proactively managing their inventory to meet demand and stabilize the market. To boost sales, many motorcycle manufacturers are launching promotional programs to stimulate the market. Anticipating the shopping season, manufacturers are continuously updating their product catalogs with new models and versions, from gasoline-powered to electric motorcycles; from common manual transmission bikes and urban scooters to large-displacement motorcycles. This provides customers with a wider range of choices.
Mr. Nguyen Tan Dat, Head of Sales and Marketing at Hong Duc Co., Ltd., said that from December 2025, the number of customers visiting and shopping at the Hong Duc HEAD system will increase by about 20-30% compared to normal months. To stimulate shopping during the period leading up to the Lunar New Year, the company is offering large and attractive promotional programs such as lucky draws and gift giveaways to increase the joy and excitement of customers buying vehicles at the end of the year. In addition, the company also ensures the supply of many Honda models with full versions and diverse colors for customers to choose from.
With the consumer trend shifting towards "greener" consumption and increasing competition between gasoline and electric motorcycles, many manufacturers are striving to find ways to maintain sales. Holding approximately 83% of the motorcycle market share in Vietnam, Honda Vietnam has continuously launched new versions of popular models such as the SH160i/125i, Air Blade 160/125, Lead ABS, Future 125 FI, and Vision in recent months. Some manufacturers are choosing to target customers with unique personalities through products like the Yamaha Nmax ABS, Yamaha PG-1, Honda CT125, and Honda CB350 H'ness. Piaggio has introduced additional models with impressive designs and limited editions, most notably the Vespa 946 Horse to celebrate the Year of the Horse.
The electric motorcycle market is equally vibrant with the appearance of many new electric motorcycle models, from the entry-level to the premium segment. Brands specializing in electric motorcycle production such as VinFast , DatBike, Yadea, Dibao, Tailg… continue to expand their product range, improve designs, increase driving range, and optimize battery durability. For example, VinFast recently launched the ZGoo and Flazz electric motorcycles equipped with advanced LFP batteries, as well as VinFast's first battery-exchange models including the Evo Max, Feliz Max, Vero X Max, and Drift Max. Manufacturers are also strengthening after-sales services, battery leasing and exchange policies, and trade-in programs for gasoline vehicles to electric ones… building consumer trust. Honda and Yamaha have also entered the electric motorcycle market. Recently, Honda Vietnam announced a new sales policy for the e: CUV electric motorcycle model and launched the new Honda UC3 electric motorcycle.
Currently, many promotional programs are being actively implemented. For example, Honda Vietnam has the "New Year's Fortune - Exciting Spring Trip" program, where customers who buy new vehicles participate in a lucky draw to win prizes such as Honda motorcycles, smartwatches, 1 million VND shopping vouchers, and 1 million VND phone top-up cards; those who buy the ICON e electric scooter receive a 5 million VND cash bonus. Piaggio is running the "Italian Bikes for the New Year, Opening Up Fortune in Every Way" promotion for Vespa, Liberty, Medley, Vespa Sprint, Beverly 400 HPE, and MP3 400 HPE models. The prize draw is conducted electronically, with the grand prize being a Piaggio Liberty 125 Z version motorcycle, and other prizes such as Vespa storage boxes, helmets, and accessory cash bonuses worth 500,000 VND.
Yamaha Motor Vietnam Co., Ltd. is running a "Bringing Good Fortune in Spring" program, offering a VND 2 million discount on vehicle registration fees for Yamaha Janus and Lexi models; and giving away fashionable t-shirts for Yamaha Sirius, Exciter 155 standard versions, and other large-displacement models. VinFast is offering a 6% discount directly off the price of electric motorcycles, 100% support for registration fees; and free battery charging at V-Green public charging stations until May 31, 2027… Alongside the manufacturer's program, dealerships and stores also have their own promotions such as gifts, discount vouchers, preferential interest rates, and home delivery…
