Grade 10 entrance exam

The 10th grade entrance exam at the Gifted High School took place on May 26 and 27.

Information from the school said that in the 2023-2024 school year, the school's enrollment target for grade 10 is 17 grade 10 classes with 595 students.

The school received 3,092 applications. Compared to the number of students registered for the exam and the quota, the competition ratio was 1 to 5.2. This is also the highest competition ratio in the past 5 years.

In 17 grade 10 classes, there are 9 specialized classes by subject, with 315 students, including: Math and English (4 classes), physics, chemistry, biology, literature and computer science (1 class for each subject).

There are also 8 specialized classes by field, including 6 specialized classes in natural sciences and technology, 2 specialized classes in social sciences, with a total enrollment of 280 students.

To enter the Gifted High School, students must take at least four exams, including math, literature and English, along with one specialized subject exam.

The admission score is the total score of the three exams: Literature, Math and English (coefficient 1) and the specialized subject exam (coefficient 2). The exam will be calculated on a 10-point scale.

Candidates will take the non-major exams in literature, English (morning) and math (afternoon) on May 26, and the major exam on May 27.

Students taking the entrance exam to the school are mainly students in Ho Chi Minh City.

Starting from the previous school year, the Gifted High School has completely changed its admission method. The most notable of these is the cessation of non-specialized classes and the opening of more specialized classes by field, such as specialized classes in natural sciences and technology and specialized classes in social sciences.

Classes specializing in natural sciences and technology will focus on improving interdisciplinary thinking skills in solving problems in fields such as natural sciences, life sciences, health sciences, technology, environment, etc.; at the same time, applying information technology, artificial intelligence combined with STEMeducation topics to orient related careers.

Classes specializing in the field of social sciences focus on improving interdisciplinary thinking skills in solving problems in fields such as culture, politics, economics, society, etc.; at the same time, applying information and communication means, knowledge about culture and people combined with related career orientation (psychology, sociology, economics, journalism, law, etc.).
