Thien An is currently a controversial figure as she sits on the judging panel at the preliminary round of Miss Grand Vietnam 2026. During contestant Phao's (real name Nguyen Dieu Huyen) performance, when judge Huong Giang asked, "If I give you 5 points today, what do you think the reason is?", Phao responded, "If you give me 5 points, it means I still have a chance to make it into the top 3."

Thien An then responded. She denied any intention of mocking Huong Giang for making it to the top 3 thanks to votes and asked anti-fan accounts to stop speculating and making sarcastic remarks about her. "I also received votes when I competed, and I'm very proud because it's the audience's love, and it's important. I didn't mean anything by it, but it's truly frightening when it comes from people like you," the beauty queen expressed.
