Fernando Carro, CEO of Leverkusen, revealed that in the contract between the two parties there is a special agreement, allowing the Spanish coach to take over one of the clubs he played for during his career, including Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.

"In the next few weeks, we will know if there will be a change of coach at the clubs. We are a very professional club and must be prepared for all situations," said Mr. Carro.

Alonso's initial contract with Leverkusen ran until 2024. The two sides have agreed to extend it for another two years, until 2026.
