Thanks to new battery technology, many manufacturers are starting to experiment with 7-inch smartphones with high-capacity batteries to extend usage time.

According to PhoneArena , many people are now surprised to see smartphones priced around $400 with batteries as large as 10,000 mAh. Meanwhile, Samsung has maintained a 5,000 mAh battery capacity for its high-end Galaxy S Ultra series for the past seven years, including the latest Galaxy S26 Ultra. Conversely, with the exception of Apple, many other manufacturers have begun offering products with battery capacities of 6,500 mAh or more.

However, to achieve a truly long battery life of two days, the battery cells would need to be slightly larger, which could lead to manufacturers designing thicker phones – a design choice not all consumers would approve of.

A PhoneArena survey asking whether a 7-inch screen improves or detracts from the user experience revealed that only 33.88% of users were enthusiastic about larger -screen phones , while nearly 50% found it unappealing.

With these changes, future smartphones may see an increase in models larger than 7 inches and with higher-capacity batteries. However, this will lead to many people feeling nostalgic for smaller, more compact phones, which offer a more comfortable user experience.
