- Due to the mountainous terrain of the province, the risk of landslides on roads throughout the province is very high during each rainy season. Therefore, relevant units are always ready to implement various solutions to ensure smooth traffic flow.
Due to the impact of typhoons No. 10 and 11 in 2025, a serious landslide occurred at Km4+700 on the Chi Lang - Y Tich road (in Van Linh commune). Immediately after the incident, relevant units quickly arrived to address the problem. Mr. Ngo Minh Hieu, Deputy Director of Construction and Trade Development Joint Stock Company No. 909 (the unit contracted to manage the road), stated: Six large rocks rolled down onto the road surface at the landslide location. Upon receiving the information, the unit quickly organized warnings, deployed personnel, and machinery and equipment to implement measures to clear the road and ensure traffic flow.

Along with the road clearing project at the aforementioned location, from 2025 to the present, the complex weather patterns and heavy rains have caused landslides on both the embankment and slope of many roads under the unit's management. Upon assessing the landslide situation, the unit mobilized 50 permanent workers and 8 pieces of equipment and machinery to clear the soil and rocks. Specifically, from 2025 to the present, the unit has cleared approximately 15,000 m³ of landslide soil and rocks; and addressed 10 landslide points on the embankment... along routes with a total length of over 309 km.
Similarly, Lang Son Transportation Management and Construction Joint Stock Company is also focusing on implementing response and remediation work for landslides on nearly 700 km of roads under its management. Mr. Vi Van Dan, the company's director, stated: To ensure smooth and safe traffic flow, the company has established a Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue Command Board; assigned specific tasks to each department and individual; proactively deployed personnel and equipment, and organized regular on-call duty to promptly address incidents. From 2025 to the present, the company has cleared nearly 61,000 m³ of landslide debris from the positive slope; remediated landslides on the negative slope with a total length of nearly 200 m; and repaired road surfaces and drainage ditches over 300 m… significantly contributing to ensuring traffic safety on these routes.
In recent years, the situation regarding storms, landslides, and rockfalls on transportation routes has become increasingly complex. In response to this reality, relevant authorities and sectors have proactively implemented comprehensive solutions. Mr. Hoang Duc Thuan, Director of the Construction Maintenance Management Board (Department of Construction), stated: Due to the impact of storms and heavy rains, in 2025, on the routes under his management, including national highways, provincial roads, border patrol roads, and district roads (which have been adjusted), there were 3,587 locations with approximately 281,821 m3 of soil and rock landslides; and 187 locations with 2,510 m of negative slope landslides...
Immediately after the landslide occurred, the unit urged the relevant road management units to quickly address the landslide and ensure initial traffic flow. From the beginning of 2026 to the present, heavy rains have caused landslides at 179 locations on the positive slope and 7 locations on the negative slope. The road management units have carried out clearing work and implemented measures to ensure traffic flow and reopen the road as quickly as possible.
The 2026 rainy season is approaching. In parallel with addressing landslides from the previous year, relevant agencies and units are now preparing manpower, machinery, and other necessary equipment to be ready to address any landslides on the roads. This will significantly contribute to ensuring the safety and smooth flow of traffic on these routes.
