New information about the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim

Numerous reports and rumors have recently emerged suggesting that Samsung may be developing a fourth member of the Galaxy S25 series, tentatively named the Galaxy S25 Slim.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim has a new telephoto lens.

Besides its ultra-slim body, there are also rumors that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim will have zoom capabilities similar to the Galaxy S25+ thanks to the company's new telephoto lens.

According to a new report, the Galaxy S25 Slim will use Samsung's new All Lens on Prism (ALoP) telephoto zoom lens. This new technology was designed by the ISOCELL team and unveiled last month. Samsung plans to introduce this product at CES 2025 in Las Vegas, USA.

In an interview last week, Samsung's Younggyu Jeong (Team Leader) and Minook Kim (Staff Engineer) explained how the ALoP lenses work. All the lenses are mounted on a periscope prism. It utilizes a 40˚ tilted prism reflective surface along with a 10˚ tilted sensor assembly.

A conventional foldable zoom camera wouldn't be able to use a wider lens because that would increase its size and wouldn't fit within the smartphone body. In contrast, an ALoP can use a wider lens because it's positioned horizontally with the smartphone body. Therefore, it won't increase the phone's thickness.

Samsung previously revealed that their ALoP lens has an aperture of f/2.58 at an 80mm focal length (approximately 3x optical zoom). For comparison, the standard foldable zoom lens on the Galaxy S24 Ultra has an aperture of f/3.4. Because the ALoP has a wider aperture and a slimmer design, it would be a perfect fit for the Galaxy S25 Slim. This phone is rumored to be less than 7mm thick.
