Besides the super-thin body, there are also rumors that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim will have the same zoom capabilities as the Galaxy S25+ thanks to the company's new telephoto lens.
According to a new report, the Galaxy S25 Slim will use Samsung's new All Lens on Prism (ALoP) telephoto zoom lens. This new technology was designed by the ISOCELL team and was unveiled last month. Samsung is planning to introduce this product at CES 2025 in Las Vegas, US.
In an interview last week, Samsung’s Younggyu Jeong (Team Leader) and Minook Kim (Staff Engineer) explained how the ALoP lens works. All the lenses are mounted on a periscope prism, which uses a 40˚ tilted prism reflecting surface and a 10˚ tilted sensor cluster.
A conventional folding zoom camera cannot use a wider lens because it increases its size and does not fit into the smartphone body. On the contrary, ALoP can use a wider lens because it is placed horizontally with the smartphone body. Therefore, it will not increase the thickness of the phone.
Samsung has also previously revealed that its ALoP lens has an f/2.58 aperture at 80mm (about 3x optical zoom). For comparison, the regular folding zoom lens on the Galaxy S24 Ultra has an f/3.4 aperture. Since ALoP has a wider aperture as well as a slim cluster, it would fit perfectly on the Galaxy S25 Slim, which is rumored to be thinner than 7mm.
