The Bung - Van Ninh expressway is open for technical traffic.

(PLVN) - The Bung - Van Ninh section of the North-South Expressway (Eastern route, 2021-2025 phase) was officially opened for technical traffic and put into operation as the main route from April 19, 2025.

This morning, April 19th, the Ministry of Construction , in coordination with the People's Committee of Quang Binh province, officially held a technical opening ceremony and put into operation the main section of the Bung - Van Ninh component of the North-South Expressway construction project (Eastern section, 2021-2025).

The Bùng - Vạn Ninh expressway was officially opened for technical traffic.

The section of the route open to traffic is approximately 48.84km long, passing through Quang Binh province. It includes four interchanges: the Cu Nam interchange (approximately at Km626+690.35), the Viet Trung interchange (approximately at Km643+480), the Nhat Le 2 interchange (approximately at Km653+850), and the QL9B interchange (approximately at Km673+750).

The project starts at Km625+00, in Cu Nam commune, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province, and ends at the Van Ninh - Cam Lo section of the project.

The project has a total investment of VND 9,361.15 billion from the state budget. The investor is Project Management Board 6 (Ministry of Construction). The Bung-Van Ninh expressway section is designed according to expressway standards, with a speed of 100 km/hour, and phased design with a speed of 90 km/hour.

The project commenced in January 2023 and the main route is now largely complete. The contractor is a consortium comprising Cienco4 Group Joint Stock Company, General Corporation 36, Truong Son Construction Investment Joint Stock Company, 471 Joint Stock Company, Trung Chinh Trading and Construction Limited Liability Company, and Truong Son Construction Investment Joint Stock Company.

The project has a total investment of over 9,300 billion VND.

Cienco4 Group Joint Stock Company is one of the contractors in the project's consortium.

Following the technical opening ceremony, the project put into operation approximately 47/48.84km of the main route and 4/4 interchanges, including: Cu Nam interchange (at approximately Km626+690.35), Viet Trung interchange (at approximately Km643+480), Nhat Le 2 interchange (at approximately Km653+850), and National Highway 9B interchange (at approximately Km673+750).

The Bung – Van Ninh expressway project's technical opening and commissioning of the main route, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), further enhances the project's significance.

After the technical opening, many other components of the project will continue to be completed to officially finish the project in the near future. The completion and commissioning of the project will alleviate traffic congestion and reduce traffic accidents on National Highway 1A; at the same time, it will meet the needs of travel, transportation, tourism, cultural and social exchange, contributing to economic development and stimulating tourism potential in the areas where the expressway passes through.
