On the morning of January 16th, in Mo Cay commune, the Maritime and Inland Waterway Project Management Board of the Ministry of Construction and the People's Committee of the province solemnly held the technical opening ceremony for the Mo Cay bridge.
This project commemorates the 66th anniversary of the Ben Tre Uprising (January 17, 1960 – January 17, 2026).

Attending the ceremony were: Ms. Ho Thi Hoang Yen – Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Minh Dung – Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Mr. Tran Tri Quang – Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; members of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee; National Assembly delegates; and members of the Provincial Party Committee.
The Mo Cay Bridge is a component of the project "Raising the clearance of road bridges crossing national inland waterways - Phase 1 (Southern region)".
The project includes the construction of 9 new bridges, the upgrading and renovation of 1 bridge, and the demolition of 1 bridge, implemented in provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region such as Vinh Long, Tay Ninh, Dong Thap, An Giang, and Can Tho City.

The project aims to comprehensively improve the transportation infrastructure system, enhance the capacity of inland waterway transport, strengthen connectivity between the Mekong Delta region and Ho Chi Minh City and the Southeast region's seaport clusters, contributing to reduced logistics costs, reduced traffic accidents, and promoting sustainable socio-economic development.
Among these, the Mo Cay bridge project is a crucial component with a total investment of VND 2,155.9 billion, managed by the Maritime and Inland Waterway Project Management Board, with an expected implementation period of 2023-2025.
The bridge is designed for permanent use, constructed of reinforced concrete and prestressed reinforced concrete, meeting modern technical standards and ensuring a Class III clearance for national inland waterway navigation.
The opening of the Mo Cay Bridge for technical traffic has facilitated the transportation needs of people and businesses. Simultaneously, further procedures and related items are being completed to bring the project into stable and long-term operation.

Speaking at the technical opening ceremony of the Mo Cay Bridge, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Truc Son emphasized that the event, taking place on the occasion of the anniversary of the Ben Tre Uprising Day (January 17, 1960 – January 17, 2026), has profound political and social significance, demonstrating the determination to invest in the development of transportation infrastructure, continuing the revolutionary tradition and aiming for sustainable development.
The opening of the Mo Cay Bridge to traffic not only facilitates travel but also increases the clearance, ensuring smooth and safe waterway traffic, contributing to reducing pressure on road transport, lowering transportation costs, promoting production, business, services, tourism, and improving the lives of the people.

Acknowledging the consensus of the local Party committee, government, and people in the land clearance and construction work, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the relevant units to complete the remaining items, ensuring the quality of the project, traffic safety, and the long-term effectiveness of the Mo Cay bridge.
