Previously, on June 12th, the French Ministry of Health announced the voluntary recall of Allernova AR infant formula, batch number 183403, manufactured by Laboratoires Novalac.
This decision was made after the monitoring system recorded 11 reports of gastrointestinal side effects in infants, such as diarrhea and vomiting, via the Anses system and one report via SignalConso, all related to the production batch in question.
Among the affected children, one case required hospitalization after tests detected Adenovirus in a stool sample. This is a causative agent of gastroenteritis, which is not typically transmitted through breast milk. Authorities also confirmed that this incident is unrelated to recent international warnings about cereulide toxins in infant formula.

To ensure consumer health and safety, the Food Safety Department requests the Departments of Health , Food Safety, and Food Safety and Hygiene Sub-departments of provinces and cities to urgently review the registration and self-declaration of the Allernova AR infant formula product.
Authorities need to work with the company that announced the product (if any), requesting them to notify distributors and consumers to stop using it and to proceed with the recall as recommended by the manufacturer. The company must report specifically the quantity imported, sold, and remaining in stock, and propose handling measures. The results of the handling must be reported to the Food Safety Department before June 20, 2026.
Simultaneously, the Food Safety Department also requested the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ) to notify e-commerce platforms and websites to remove infringing stores. Consumers are strongly advised not to use any of the aforementioned batches of Allernova AR infant formula.
